Paul said, "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food; but God will destroy both it and them" ( 1 Cor 16:13 ).

On this basis , some cults - including New Agers and Jehovah's Witnesses- argue that the resurrection body will not have the anatomy or physiology of the preresurrection body ( Things in Which it is Impossible for God to Lie, 1965,354 )

Fizzarel...JWs' religion is mentioned among cults for example in the Handbook of Today's Religions. So as this is not only my opinion about JWs, the statement is backed up by numerous scholars.

Lets forget 1 cor 6:13, the question it follows was interesting. "If God is going to destroy the body, then how can it be resurrected?"

ANS:

Jehovah God is not dependent on a preserved human body in order to resurrect a person. Destroying the body does not in any way affect God’s ability to resurrect the person, IF IT IS HIS DESIRE. “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26.)

So in regard to the future earthly resurrection, Jehovah will be able to ‘give to each a body just as it pleases Him.’—1 Cor. 15:38.

Consider also this,

“Flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom, neither does corruption inherit incorruption.” (1 Cor. 15:50) This clear statement shows that those who rule with Christ in heaven, their resurrection was not dependent on their body’s being preserved.

Also bear in mind, when we die, we die. There is no element in our body that goes anywhere or continue to live, human body is mortal not immortal. That's why there is resurrection from the dead. Resurrection is nonsense if there is a soul that goes out to the body and continue to live after death. The bible doesnt teach that.

Nice question.

Or could it mean that the consumption of [animal] stomachs as Tripe is acceptable practise and that God will provide by destroying any non-nutritional elements to make it palatable.

As with many ancient text interpretations, the results are often specious.
Frequently such readings involve concepts that may have been unvisualised by the author and mostly reflect the preconceived agenda of the interpreter.

Besides how accurate can an interpretation be if the quote is flawed?
The oldest written book of the new testament was allegedly not written for some 90 years after Christ's death. Would oral tradition have preserved "factual" accounts intact?

Firstly, i would appreciate if you corrected your statement that Jehovah's witness are of a cult... because that is completely false it is an international religious organization.
Second, you misinterpreted this scripture which has absolutely nothing to do with ressurection. Paul was discussing those who were allowing their appetites to control them thus eating foods not acceptable to the first century christians, these people would be ultimately destroyed for thier disobedience. Also, to answer your question on how the body could be resurrected even though destroyed or damaged, God has the ability to restore our genetic make up to its original healthy condition since he is our creator. We most likely wouldnt be in the same condition as at death, which would be impossible for those cremated....
In the case of Lazarus when Jesus resurrected him he had been dead four days, meaning he would have already been decomposing but at John11:39-44 it states he simply came out normal in appearance.

I'm not a Christian, but I think I read somewhere about how God remembers everything, and it went on with something about ressurection...
I know that really doesn't provide much extra info, sorry about that.

edit

"Here's what I've never understood: when Jesus rose from the dead, his body was gone. This does not happen when anyone else dies and supposedly goes to heaven. What's up with that?"

I also think I read that only about 144,000 people actually go to heaven, in this case the stories about the other ressurections were probably not cases where people went to heaven.

Doesn't the bible also say that the majority of 'good' people will be ressurected on Earth after 'His' coming, not in heaven?

Peter is pretty clear... "...EVERYTHING WILL BE DESTROYED." Here is enough of that text to make the context clear.

2Peter 3:7 BY GOD’S WORD THE HEAVENS AND EARTH OF TODAY ARE BEING RESERVED FOR FIRE. They are being kept for the day when God will judge. Then ungodly people will be destroyed.
8 Dear friends, here is one thing you must not forget. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years. And a thousand years are like a day.
9 The Lord is not slow to keep his promise. He is not slow in the way some people understand it. He is patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed. Instead, he wants all people to turn away from their sins.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. THE HEAVENS WILL DISAPPEAR WITH A ROAR. FIRE WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING IN THEM. God will judge the earth and everything in it.
11 So EVERYTHING WILL BE DESTROYED. And what kind of people should you be? You should lead holy and godly lives.
12 Live like that as you look forward to the day of God. It will make the day come more quickly. ON THAT DAY FIRE WILL DESTROY THE HEAVENS. ITS HEAT WILL MELT EVERYTHING IN THEM.

As Jesus told Pilate, his kingdom is not earthly... John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.” He told his followers that they would LIVE to see his kingdom... Mark 9:1 Jesus went on to say, “I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!” Jesus was NOT MISTAKEN!

... If the kingdom is not earthly and came during the first century, then we must conclude that the language describing the kingdom in Revelation is figurative rather than literal. One of the primary "rules" of Biblical interpretation states that figurative language cannot be properly interpreted in such a way that it contradicts clear language.

Moose: nonono... Resurrection is NOT "the beginning of eternity." Read Ephesians 1:3ff. The Christian has ALREADY been "blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms." This is a COMPLETED ACTION, NOT a future action.

"human body..." We DO NOT KNOW the form of the "resurrection body." 1John 3:2 "Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is."
... Seems to be lots of errors there.

Interesting question, but you didn't specify who would be resurrected, ie; where did you find this? Well anyway; the next life where you get a new body (the kingdom that is yet to come as spoken of in the reveleations) holds in itself no solid carbon, or light gasses. The laws of physics are so different because of the high density space, that they would instantly destroy the way matter, as it is assembled now, as it passed into it's space.

Any Christian's frame is the temple of God. "Whoever destroys" might imply self destruction (suicide) or it might imply murdering a Christian. I might generally tend to think the latter. defiling a further's frame (Christian's frame) would even incorporate anything in need of dying, like rape, for illustration. This is why it's so main to search the Holy Spirit and invite him to live within you. This is while your frame real turns into the Temple of God. He will guard his temple with retribution. Also, learn Luke 18 as an guideline to prayer. I have used this on celebration while friends come towards me and the Lord has been real to guard me.

Read 1 Corinthians 15:35-58

This gives about as good of description of Resurrection as anywhere in the Bible.

The natural is sown and raised spiritual. Verse 44

When we die, our bodies return to dust and the breath of life goes back to God who gave it. When Jesus returns to this earth, the righteous dead will be resurrected, given a new immortal body before ascending to heaven. If God created Adam and Eve, it certainly isn't a problem for him to give a new body to someone he resurrects. The body we have now is mortal. When we die it is because our bodies have become diseased, or they were rendered nonfunctional by accidents or at the hands of murderers. To be resurrected with those bodies again would not be desirable. God is going to make everything new again....this world and everyone who believes in him.

The body is merely a house for the soul. When you die, your soul leaves your body like a house with no one home. Do you think if you live to be a wrinkled up old bag of 90 years old you would want that body resurrected? God does not lie, man will never know his whole plan, you have to trust God and have faith.
