three things digital cameras don't like are gravity, water, and sand.

Camera repair is never ever a "do it yourself" project so forget about that idea.

First, ignore Terry L. You never never use liquids on a camera. Rubbing alcohol or WD-40 would really mess up a camera. Add Dane S. as one to ignore. Lying, especially to your mom, is never a good idea.

Second, confess your stupidity to your mom. IMO you should be grounded for at least 30 days.

Third, tell your mom to use the money she planned to spend on you for Christmas to buy herself a new camera. Maybe she'll let you wrap it and give it to her.

Fourth, be more responsible in the future.

First things first. The batteries might be dead, or got jilted. Put in new fresh batteries and see what happens. If that doesn't work you could try loosening things up with some rubbing alcohol--I would say WD40 but she would smell it.

try calling the company that made it, or emailing them, but for now if your mom asks you what happened say you have no idea
