I used to attend a church that was UPC and had to leave because of their false doctrine. They claim you are not saved unless you speak in tongues. False. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. They believe that if you get baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are not truly baptized. According to them a baptism is only valid if you say, In Jesus' name. False. Jesus said to baptize all men in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They believe that God is only one person who sometimes wears the Father hat, and sometimes the Son hat and sometimes the Holy Spirit hat. False. God said Let US make man in OUR image. US always refers to two or more persons. God was indicating that the Godhead contained persons. Jesus said, baptise in the NAME, not names, of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Read John 1 and 17 and you will see clearly that Jesus was with the Father. The Bible teaches the unity of the persons that make up the Godhead. UPC also teaches that you must be baptized to be saved. It must be in the name of Jesus. If you were baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit you are not saved. I left the UPC because of my love for the truth.

I'm an Evangelical, so we're apart from the United Pentecostals. My parents are Presbyterians, so they would be apart from it too. So is my Catholic grandfather, for that matter.

No, but I dated the daughter of one of their pastors. Even took her to see Marilyn Manson and Insane Clown Posse (her idea each time).

Her father's not run of the mill though, he thought it was great she was experiencing other things. Her mother? Well, we did have some problems.
