I could be that there is something in the water that you are allergic to. Rememr that the public water source is only filtered to a certain extent and they add stuff like chlorine and fluoride. I itch extremely when i am exposed to chlorine in water so this may have caused your itching. Also when we over wet our skin it is now saturated..wet tissue wants to decompose when left in water and is saturated. The itching could be because you over saturated your hands. Also if your skin is dry..then it wants to absorb the wetness..more saturation endures. Good luck!

I always wondered this and found that I was allergic to the kind of soap that I was using. Also the doc told me that being in water for long periods of time can dry the skin especially if it's not in softened water.

too much exposure to water, actually leaches moisture out of your skin so it dries out and itches. Suggest you limit your exposure to water, wear gloves if you can, and use a very good moisturizer like Eucerin cream on them.

the water may be drying out your skin, so use a lotion that says "soothes and relieves" or has aloe Vera in it. If that doesn't work..

you could have a skin condition called eczema.. you should check with your doctor
