Humanism is the belief that the end of all things is the pleasure of man. Christians believe that the end of all things is the pleasure of God.

There are different types of humanists. Some do believe in god and even an afterlife. Sir Thomas More considered himself a humanist.

Humanism is a philosophy. Many atheists are humanists but my humanist group contains many Christians, Hindus, Muslims and Jews. We gather to help because we share a concern for other humans.

Humanism is not automatically atheism.

My Christian mother is a humanist.

Some, but certainly not all do. Humanistic ethics or philosophy does not preclude a belief in God or gods, but does reject the need to defer to these entities to decide questions of morality.

EDIT: Two of these answers are flat wrong. Guess which ones.

sure. as long as you consider humanism and reject the belief of the supernatural, superstition or pseudoscience then you certainly would properly be an earthly humanist. in case you have faith in a divine supernatural being then you certainly are in trouble-free terms a humanist. If the god you have faith in can in trouble-free terms works in the regulations of technological awareness then you certainly would properly be an earthly humanist.

I believe a humanist can either believe or not the question of god.

The thumbs down, is because we are not saying that Jesus is the only way. If you notice the only person "not" to get a thumbs down. Is the one that said she believed in Jesus.

Nope... Humanism is basically a PR name for atheism, but without all the negative connotations.

If they do, they will hardly say so.

Most want to believe, but...
The others probably don't want to believe because of a slight default of caracter, get it?

so: who cares?
