I had my cat for 10 years. She is fixed, and front de-clawed. She has been living outside for increasing periods of time since last spring when we got a puppy. She just doesn't like to share her home I guess, the pup was never mean to her. She would come in to eat at 1st, then she stopped doing that & would just meow at the door so I would feed her outside. She quit doing that as often, so I just put food out for her and she'd come eat at some point during the day. But now it is to the point where I don't see her for days on end, I set food out & it sits there for 2 days..and either her or another animal eats it at night when I am asleep. It's cold outside now & I wonder where she is, why she's not coming around anymore. Is it just in cat's nature to want to live outdoors & be wild? Before we got the dog, she used to try to get outside a lot, but we always made sure she didn't get out. I have to be worried & wonder where is she, what has she been eating, how is she keeping warm?

I did pick her up & bring her inside about a month ago, and she wouldn't touch her food although she was hungry, and I had the puppy in the other room with the door shut so she wouldn't want to leave but she just went to the back door & meowed at me endlessly until I let her back out.

To people saying that I should find her a home, I tried finding her a home with no other animals and no small children as we have a 6 mo. old and another on the way & I have seen this cat bite kids when they handle her. Who wants a 10 year old anti-social cat that bites ppl.? Nobody. I didn't want this to happen, I had her 10 years. it just happened this way & I do feel really bad about it all. It is hard to find cute kittens in shelters homes, and I know if I gave her to a shelter, she'd end up dead.

Well, you are obviously worried, so keep her inside! Just for like, 2 weeks, then let her out in the mornings, and keep her in at night. Maybe she just needs to get used to this new puppy.

To be honest, odds are high that she's dead. You declawed her, so she has no way to hunt or to protect herself. And at her advanced age, she's not going to be able to hunt or run well enough to survive out there.

If she's lucky some kind soul found her and took her to a shelter and she's found a new home. But chances are that this didn't happen. If, by some miracle, she's still alive and you see her, you need to either bring her inside and keep her inside, or take her to an organization that will give her the attention that she needs.

Oh man, you did the WRONG thing by ever letting her go outside! She is DECLAWED!! She has NO WEAPONS, NO DEFENSE. First you chop off her toes and then you throw her away... Even if you didn't have her declawed, you still took responsibility for her when you brought her home.

OK, lecture over...

You must find her and bring her home. And KEEP her inside. She will NOT starve, she will eat eventually. It will be hard on BOTH of you, she will scream and carry on -- but you CAN'T let her outside. She is at the mercy of EVERYTHING -- every cat, every dog, every wild animal -- not to mention CARS.

If you cannot stand to keep her inside, then please find her a home where they WILL keep her inside. Be a responsible owner and protect your cat. Maybe she was declawed when you got her, but if YOU did it -- please, please NEVER EVER chop off a cat's toes again.

Oh my! I hope your cats ok! Next time your cat comes home, bring it inside, make your cat a room. Your cat probably won't be happy but she'll get used to it.
And it's better than worrying about your cat all the time!

Best of Luck! ^_^

She doesn't like the dog and now that she has been living outside, she is happier out there! That happens with all cats who are allowed to spend a lot of time outside when there is a dog in the house they don't like, especially with an older cat!

my cat slick did the same thing. he is 3 years old, and when chezzy had kittens he didnt like them... it was the same senario. now 4 months later i never see him, i just considered him rude because he doesnt want to share his people......also though, cats do have a tendancy to run away when they are preparing to die, to find a suitable place, not to worry though.

NEVER LET A DECLAWED CAT OUTSIDE! THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES AGAINST PREDATORS!
