Wow. you think that someones spiritual beliefs can clue you in on who has a kind heart? Look in the world and see who always leads the charge to demonize everyone? Christians. If you don't believe exactly as they do you are evil. So if a christian stopped and found out the person in distress was an atheist do you think they would still help? Some would some wouldn't It would depend on their heart.

There have actually been psychological studies done on this. I am not aware of any that showed any correlation between altruism and religious faith or lack of religious faith. One factor is that if person thought that there was no one else to offer help. It would then create a sense of responsibility. Thus, if you're on a freeway and there are thousand cars whizzing by no one is likely to help atheist or not (because they all think someone else will do it). If your an isolated place with no assistance readily available, then a passerby is more like to feel a sense of moral responsibility.

It would depend on the person, because some of the nicest people I know are atheist, and there are alot of atheists who are complete a**holes. Also there are many "believers" who live their faith to the fullest and do all they can to serve others, and on the same token there are many believers that will preach the New Testament till its Old, but wouldn't lift a finger to help another person in need.

I have helped people with flats ... and other car-hassles
(and I'm more of an agnostic than an athiest)
I have been helped by "believers" and know several good-hearted Christians ...
I also know good-hearted athiests and have gotten help there
I think "good heart" is primary here .. the rest is window-dressing
(didn't Jesus say "love God .. and love your neighbor .. the rest is commentary")
Pythagorous said that the winning of a soul to the good was the most crucial thing in life (or sumpin like that)

It could be either really, depending on their circumstances. For example, if the passing driver didn't know how to fix a flat then I doubt they would stop regardless of their religion.
If the passing driver sensed it could be a dangerous situation (like if it was a single woman or someone travelling with children) I think that would influence their descision regardless of the persons religion.

I'm an atheist, I would help anyone. Why do other religions associate atheists with evilness? Just because we do not read the bible does not mean that we are incapable of acts of kindness. The difference between believers and non-believers is that non-believers do not need a book to tell them the difference between right and wrong.

This is not a good question. Every person is different. Obviously if the person is a true believer they should stop and help you. However, you can't make a generalization like this. It is not going to be 100% either atheists or believers.

I've known Christians who would have been too busy, going about, attending their many meetings, etc.
You would think Christians would automatically be helpful, due to God's urging them to do so.
Actually, some people like others, some are selfish and don't like anyone.
Has little or nuthing to do with a belief system.

Depends on who has the jack. Just because someone is a Christian doesn't mean they have the corner on kindness. I'm a Christian, but I don't think atheists are any less willing to help someone. We're still all people and we still all have compassion.

I just know an atheist on here had to insult Christians by implying we need a book to know the difference between right and wrong.....nice going,....it is an athiest like you that give atheists a bad name....
People are people....but when you want to please Jesus
more than anything, you tend to look for ways you can help others...faith without works is dead....so they may step up to the plate more often...IMHO
