This is the time of year that pets shed the summer fur for winter fur but yes fleas along with mange will cause hair loss if your chihuahua has fleas take her to the vet for flea medicine or buy something from wal-mart but get something fleas drink the blood of pets and will cause illness in time

Well, theres a problem then, my dog and cat are allergic to fleas and flea bites, so therefore they pull out their hair. Whick makes it seem like they are shedding. Look at your dog and see if its skin is all red and irritated. Then go to the vet and it will give it a shot to calm down the irritation. Get some frontline to treat the fleas and flea spray for your house and spray around all the edges of the furniture on the ground to kill all the eggs.

Certainly fleas can cause hair loss, especially when your dog scratches.
Get some Frontline or Advantage - not a cheap flea preventative that doesn't work - put it on the back of the dogs neck every month and your dog will have no more problems with fleas.

Yes, but whenever your pet has noticable hair loss that can't be contributed to shedding you should take them in to see the vet. It seems like a strange time of year for your dog to be sheeding, it is fall now, but she might be just fine. If there are patches of hair missing it could be fleas or a number of other things, such as staph or ring worm. Take the dog in for a test to be sure it's not red mange if it gets worrisome. Chances are it's nothing but she may need a medicated shampoo or an over-the-counter allergy med. Good luck with your pup!

Flea bites can cause shedding and hair loss in dogs. It's an allergy. Get rid of the fleas and start preventing a reinfestation.

Chi's are known for hair loss when it comes to fleas. I used frontline and I never had a problem since. If the puppy is young us joy soap, that helps with fleas too.

It is not a very serious problem and with a little bit of caution you will be able to prevent further hair loss.
There are certain uncontrollable factors like pregnancy conditions or certain illness or genetic factors that will result in hair loss. But, this does not mean that you cannot do something about your hair loss.

Yes, but mange is another culprit of hair loss. Normally though with mange it falls out in patches though. Sometimes something as simple as nerves can cause hair loss in dogs. Fleas can cause it too.
