tonneau cover in nissan pathfinder?

ok the tonneau cover in a nissan pathfinder, not a pickup truck and the cover doesnt meet weather. now the question is can i remove it and will it affect anything? not a pick up truck not a convertable just a tonneau cover in a SUV

Cargo cover springs into square holes each side push one way or the other after you let the cover wrap into the cross piece. After you compress the spring side tilt the cargo cover out and put it some place safe.
