The best way to maintain a relationship with someone with borderline personality disorder is to have really clear boundries. You will either be their best friend or their worse enemy, so be very clear about what is acceptable and what isn't.

They have a pathological fear of abandonment. See BPD, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and print 2 copies, mailing one to them in a typed envelope, stating they are in urgent need of Dialectic Behavio(u)ral Therapy, or to find someone using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, who is prepared to read up on it. Make a written record of all that has transpired (happened), and take all of this along to the Police, and apply to the Court for a restraining order, forbidding contact, or close proximity. WARNING! Some of these people are dangerous, and it's difficult to tell. Around half their therapists have been assaulted. Can you move elsewhere, for a while? At least, don't be so predictable in your comings and goings, routes and timetables: a moving target...

It is sometimes, not always, very hard to remain friends with one who suffers with BPD.. You know it is a illness and they are not in control of the way they react, most will feel really bad if they are causing you pain, First you must be truthful and talk about your concerns and feelings and make request very clear, They do not always hear the words as you say them. If they still feel the need to see you please talk with a professional and ask for help. It is hard for you I am sure, you may feel bad but don''t it is better for the person to be surrounded by ones who knows what is needed. You tried and at this time of your life your are not the match for this person. BPD or not we all are not a match goes for all types of relationships ... Good luck to you both...

there are laws against stalking and harrassing, if you cannot get someone to leave you alone, call the police and ask them to tell this person what can happen if they don't leave you alone....it's called prison, and it isn't fun.
