why do people put nice audio systems in old cars that could use some work?

They can afford to put a nice stereo in a cheap car. But cannot afford to put nice stereo in a expensive car.

Well, I'm from Newark, NJ where stolen car audio equipment is plentiful and cheap and most people who live in the ghetto don't have enough money to buy a good car. Even poor people enjoy music

because they dont really care about the car. once you buy a audio system it is yours so it doesnt matter about the car because if they get rid of the car or it breaks down they just take the sounds out

Maybe they think that having a nice sound system is more important or higher in their priorities than making their vehicles visualy appealing
