What you should be asking is how did all the FRESH water fish survive? It was a water world after raining 40 days and nights, hence salt water (albeit a bit diluted from all the rain).

So then why doesn't any of the current rain water from major hurricanes now kill off a large number of salt water fish? And if it did-the creator of the universe could not replenish them?

Maybe it was a saltwater flood.
I think the story would say that only two of each kind of fish would have survived, so maybe they mostly didn't survive. The Greek myth that the Noah story comes from is even less specific.

Considering if it *did* happen, it most certainly was on a local level and therefore fish in other parts of the world remained A OK.
