Am aware of the nightmares out there of "adoptees" and just WANT TO MAKE SURE THESE THREE KITTENS I HAVE GO TO WARM LOVING RESPONSIBLE HOMES. So placed an ad on craigslist today.
All the shelters aren't taking cats for THREE months, as we made 1/2 dozen phone calls.
Wish we had room for them but we already have 2 cats and live in a small apartment.
Anyway the cat outside adopted us due to her neglectful original home. Guess she knew the most loving house on the block :--)
Anyway, hoping that I get nice ppl on craigslist to adopt the other 3 kittens out to some awesome homes for them.

Do NOT give away or sell pets on craigslist.com unless you want them to be used at pitbull bait, tested on in a lab or go to completely unfit homes.

Find a local no-kill animal shelter in the area and give the kittens to them. They're give the cats all their shots and test them for various diseases, spay and neuter them and find them suitable homes.

Find out what the spay/neuter fees are in your area. Get a refundable deposit for that amount before adoption and give it back when proof of the surgery has been done.

That way you will know you are getting people who will give vet care to the kitten and take social responsibility to see that the kittens don't grow up to add to the homeless population.

It used to be safe to give kittens away, but now days the best bet is to ask for a small adoption fee because you never know what weirdo will knock on your door and take that adorable little kitten and do God knows what to it. If you're giving them away, without asking an adoption fee it might be a good idea to ask for vet references to ensure they're going to people that are capable of taking care of them rather then to some sick s.o.b. that will use them for bait or some other sick purpose.

Not really. It's hard now to tell if the person taking them is selling them to research labs, is going to kill them, is going to use them to feed a pet python, or is going to use them to train a pit bull for fighting.

Unless you can find someone at work who will take them, or people you can trust that you know, it's always a problem trying to figure if they have safe homes. ESPECIALLY with the 'free' aspect.

No its not safe. I have enoclosed an article you should read it it lists all the dangers in the "free to a good home".

Try giving them to people you know first. Even if your close friends won't take them, ask people you even don't know very well but you know they are good people. Making this decision could save their life.

NO! I know of a restaurant that got nailed for grinding them into pepperoni and stuff. I'm serious.
