Mine is as long as they can speak our language and write our language halfway decent then by all means they can stay in this country but if they don't have anything that I mentioned above then they need to stay in their country.

Well didn't our ancestors also have to take a test on Ellis Island to be allowed into this country. Like Franklin D. Roosevelt said "Freedom is obtained not given."

My ideal "requirements" of immigration::

1. It MUST, at all times and under all circumstances, be done LEGALLY and in accordance to ALL laws, rules, and regulations. Failure to do so will result in immediate deportation and possibly being banned from reapplying.

2. You MUST be able to speak, read, and write the "common language" of the country. You can NOT require an interpreter of any kind and there will never be a "Press 2 for...." option.

3. You must agree to NEVER fly another flag above the U.S.A flag. You must also never deface, destroy, or alter in any way the U.S. flag. The penalty for doing so is revocation of your legal status and deportation. You obviously don't respect the country.

4. You will follow ALL the laws set for ALL U.S. Citizens and for the first 5 years you are here, if you are charged with a felony you will serve the time sentenced and then be immediately deported and banned from reapplying for 10 years. After the 5 year wait, you will not be deported unless you have 3 or more felonies. You will be deported and banned from reapplying for life.

That's all I can think of right now. But these are the points I feel strongest about.

Hmmm.... Feel free to add your own.

Our Leaders adding the Construction Firms and a few anchors within the Media will have to no longer take expertise from this mess unlawful immigration, to earn a living. Some say 12 to twenty million undocumented folks are residing right here and that concern may be very detrimental for the country wide safety, we're in battle on terror we will have to recognize who're residing in our soil ... What our leaders will have to do now to remedy this mess particularly and toughly? a million) Deport all immigrants who devote crime (thieves, rapists, killers) with out exception. two) Those who're well folks and residing right here for two years and extra, will have to be competent to paintings legally. That does no longer imply Green Card or Citizenship. three) Our leaders will have to don't forget the ones approach (Green Card or Citizenship) after a reasonable interval of time. Those who're claiming "deport all undocumented folks" and others who're pronouncing "legalize all undocumented extraterrestrial beings" recognize flawlessly that's no longer gonna repair this mess. It isn't unattainable for our leaders to quit the unlawful immigration as good it's not difficult for a few anchors within the Media to record the truly data in the back of this mess!

I don't really have an opinon, but some people that I know believe that coming into the United States illegally is unessesary in a sense. Many people would say that immigration is the cause for crimes and drug importation and really it can become a problem on both standards because of the many opinions and feelings people have about this issue. I was walking to work while passing through an immigration protest. Many Mexicans were holding signs believing it to be unfair, while on the other side many whites believed immigrants shouldn't be allowed to come to the United States. I think it may be one of those big issue that might appear on the news. As people our differences are really hard to understand. I avoid these heavy issues all together. That is why my opinon on this is a blank slate. All I am sharing are the facts and what I've seen.

It depends on your countries policies. In Canada there's a quota system some people are trying to have implemented to have immigrants from "non traditional" cultures. This means non white. This ties in with the multicultural mentality which wants an exact equal number of people from every culture on earth in Canada. A lot of people hate the idea and think that it will end in disaster and fighting and no unity. Also how many official languages will all the newcomers demand?

See I'm all for folks coming to America the legal way! Hey if we all remember when Africans were broguht here it was no choice and as slaves, so they earned they're right to citizenship the hard way! Everyone who applies to get in the legal way if granted access you can stay! But if your one of the ones who has snuck across the border, choosing to live here undercover (whether your committing crimes or not your just being here is a crime alone), taking US Government services and not paying one cent worth of taxes, then we should go back to the good ole days of wanted posters and it should read like this "WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS" because the fact that anyone is walking around here illegally endangers the safety to each and every American!

I wish we knew who you are so we could say when you are running for the Senate or helping Clinton or Giuliani in their campaign we could say - "I remember her when she made that utterly ridiculous statement". What kind of standard is that? Illegals become criminals as soon as they illegally cross into our country. Once here they use our limited resources (education, health, fuel, housing, etc.), they take jobs (allegedly those no one else wants but there are a lot of unemployed and homeless people who would love them and not all jobs they are employed on are low paying. And although they may work for less they do not pay taxes and fees the rest of us do. Our taxes and fees are supporting them so we all end up paying a higher price.). Illegals have no business being in our country regardless of where they come from or why they come here. If they feel they need to be here they can take the legal steps to gain legal entry. If you and others feel we need more of them and they are so critical to our economy then push your political leaders to improve our immigration program BUT ENFORCE THE LAWS.

I completely agree with you. If I went to live in another country, I would learn the language and such. I think it should be mandatory for the foreigners to have to learn our language. Now look at it, in schools now they are teaching Spanish and all that stuff, I am not being racist or anything but that is just my opinion. Then when they do come over here, they better not be breaking the law and all that junk that some of the immigrants do. Also, I do believe that sometimes it would be better for people to migrate over here but for the most part, they should just try and make their life in their own country.

I understand your position. I would add that people that come here that aren't willing to adapt or learn/respect the culture here shouldn't bother. I'm really bothered by the immigrants that commit serious crimes here as well.

However, I realize that in other countries that people have it rough and they come here for survival reasons. I'm not a cold-hearted person. Our government has failed us and this isn't the first time. They did this back in the 60s and said it wouldn't happen again. Liars.

I don't know what the solution is. But we need one.

I have absolutely no problem with people coming to this country LEGALLY, but if they cross the border without proper paperwork, or allow their visa to expire and do not go back home as required in order to renew it, then they are ILLEGAL and are breaking the law. There are way too many people coming into this country illegally, taking our jobs, depleting our services, overcrowding our schools, all without giving back in return. This country cannot sustain the cost of this for much longer. If you are here illegally GO HOME. If you want to be a part of the US, come back LEGALLY and learn the language that the majority of the people of this country speak. LEARN TO ASSIMILATE into the culture that you are entering instead of trying to force that culture to assimilate to your home culture. THIS IS AMERICA

My opinion is that legal immigration has always been a big part of the make-up of the US, and it isn't for me to say who gets to come to the US legally (the way my great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents did).

Illegal immigration is another thing. Its disregarding the laws, which means the people who do it are not above disregarding the laws of the country. That's not who I want in the country, and they have no right to be here.

One thing I don't appreciate or welcome, however, is when people come here and try to turn America into their own version of the country they left (usually because it was an awful place to live).
