I mean your actual stomach, not the entire digestive system.

that depends on the food items consumed and the quantity. foods that contain fiber and fat take considerably longer than those that do not. they delay gastric emptying or basically the amount of time that it takes food to migrate from the stomach to the upper gastrointestinal tract. eggs and fish take less time to digest than milk, beef and poultry. fruit and vegetables take less time to digest than whole grains like lentils, beans, oats, etc.

for the most part foods that contain a lot of fiber and fat will stay in the stomach for about a good hour

Its stays in your actual stomach for about 3 hours before moving down your digestive tract.

Four hours. I know this because some time ago I had a Gastric Ulcer and the Doc put me on a cocktail of drugs to heal it up.One of the drugs had to be taken when my stomach was empty.Hospital said it would be 4 hours from food entered stomach until it exited .

Usually for solids it's 24 hours end-to-end.

Presence in the stomach depends on time it takes to adequately break down.

I'm pretty sure my wife's first attempt at fruitcake from 1983 is still down there.

depending upon what you eat and how much.... protein stays longer than carbs and fat, but generally, if everything is working about 2 hours, until its empty, or at least 50% empty.
