What do you think are the reasons why you are still here?

I'll start: When I was 19 I tried by ODing after a fight I had with my boyfriend. I think the reason I am still here is because I was meant to heal and help others through my experiences...

heretic: No, not at all. There are reasons that people succeed in suicide and reasons they fail...it is not a judgement on the act. I am just asking for experiences...

Yes I've attempted...doctors and nurses can't seem to understand why I'm still here. They told me I have an angel on my shoulder. I'm trying now to not let people get me down and not be around negative people so I can be here for my kids and live my life to the fullest.

I have never attempted suicide. I think it is ridiculous to do so. If you really wanted to succeed, I am quite sure you would have. It isn't exactly hard to die, you know. In fact it is far, far too easy.

Life is exceedingly precious.

Edit: I re-read my answer and I wanted to say that I did not mean for it to sound rude or anything. I have had a good life, so I perhaps do not have an accurate perspective on what it might feel like to want to commit suicide. However, I still feel that attempted suicide is not so much an attempt to die as it is a cry for help.

I attempted three times. I think I'm here because I sucked at trying to die. No more or less.
I am religous, but I dont place a great fate on myself. I was bipolar and no meds. It wasn't going to be pretty either way. I take my magic pills and I'm just fine now.
The reasons I did so are complicated and far too long to post here.

Attempted? No. Contemplated seriously? Yes, more than once several years ago. Then I realized that NO ONE is worth taking my life over, that there is too much to do and see in this lifetime, and I got the help I needed. I'm glad you survived your ordeal and are here to help others. God bless.

No, not really. But I was very unhappy time to time as teenager.

I believe I am here for God's purposes. It gives me the biggest pleasure when I am serving others to honor Him.

Just because I have had numerous auto accidents and survived doesn't mean I am qualified in the field of auto crash safety equipment... Just like your suicide attempt doesn't make you qualified to counsel others with suicidal thoughts..

If you really want to help others direct them to professionals qualified to counsel and help them...

No, but I've done some things that people have described as "suicidal."

I didn't think so at the time, but upon reflection.................
