Noah might have had the biggest boat, but you bet your bottom dollar that there would have been plenty of other boats carrying people (not to mention an entire planet's worth of floating trees and other debris) Or did God strike them all down with lightning bolts?

Why would everyone drown in the Great Flood except for Noah's clan? Why couldn't fisherman simply launch their boats into the rising water?

Your thoughts?

Just using Bible information. It had never rained prior to the flood. There were rivers, but they had never flooded either. Everyone had been laughing as Noah had been building the Ark. It was on dry land. And prior to the Flood, I have never seen any statements of taking boats out fishing. Nor, for that matter even fishing. I'm speaking from only using Bible references. I believe in a historical flood different than the Nible. One that flooded the region rather than the entir earth. But remember too, that in those times, the distance you could see, the distance you could walk was the world. I will add my own belief in opposition. I have looked into something and found scientists stating if a flood had covered all the mountains of the eart, three times the water on the earth, in the earth and in its atmosphere would have been required. So. where did all the water go? Before anyone gets arguementative. I present this only as a fairly valid reason why some believe while others do not.

Whether or not other boats existed is rather moot don't you think? I'm sure there were plenty of boats in Louisiana when the levies broke, but that didn't save people from drowning in the rushing flood that followed. Even boats on the sea can be taken out by a terrible storm. Do you think it sprinkled lightly for forty days and nights? You must also remember that water came from the ground as well as the sky, there was no time to get in a boat and if it wasn't covered the it would flood and sink anyway!

If you will remember the flood lasted over a year and nobody would have had enough food even if there was another boat, also remember it had never rained before so no one was prepared at all. Noah preached for a hundred years or more as he built the boat but know one beleived him. They paid the price with their lives. Today here in the US their is a church on every street corner, there is no excuse not to be ready to see God yet people die everyday and still refuse to serve him. Hell is a hot place and you will be there forever because one day is with the Lord a thousand years and a thousand years one day so that means time has no meaning in the after life. I hope you are ready and have accepted Christ as your Saviour, He died on a Cross at Calvery to wash away your sins so that you might be saved if you believe, Do you believe? Are you willing to confess to Jesus you are a sinner and you need a Saviour? If you are then just pray this sinners Prayer believing with all your heart and you will be saved, just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

Come now G.B., How many times have we here told U to read the WHOLE STORY & to quit "Sniping"??? U know how these silly Qs.' make U look don't U??? How long did the Flood last??? Who had the Only Ship
"Properly Provisioned" to last the Flood out??? U know that the Ark was a "Sealed" ship so that it couldn't be "Swamped" like a standard "Fishing Boat" right.... sorry, that's not fair as U didn't read the whole story now did U??? Next time, read it, study & then ask a Q. & if U still don't get it, K??? John

The writer who made up the story left out those details. There were probably hundreds of boats, trees and rafts but since this supposed event happened many years before and nobody took notes, the writer assumed there was only one great boat and only the people on that boat survived. There was no way for him to know what really happened, so the story should be taken with a grain of salt.

well, all that excess water had to go somewhere so when GOD flushed the heavenly comode, all the boats went swirling down with all the other crap god didn't like. wasn't that the reason for the flood in the first place?
" ..well I can see them dark clouds gatherin' up a head...
they're gonna wash this planet clean like the bible said...

That is a very good question... there had to have been plenty of other boats at that time... surely Noah wasn't the only one in the ancient biblical world with a boat. But who really needs a boat when you have god on your side and you can part the seas or walk on water ;]

The other day someone asked a Noah's Ark question and it got me thinking, 40 days & 40 nights of rain to level out 20 feet above the highest peak. Since the bible is the word of god, then surely he would have known the height of Mt. Everest at 29,029 feet... so that's a whole heck of a lot of rain, to raise the entire sea level up 29,049 feet in only 40 days.

But let's go with the bible version and say it's Mt. Ararat where Noah landed... even then with a peak of 16,854... that still means 16,874 feet of water.

So if we take that figure, and divide it by 40, we get apporx. 422 feet. So that means it would have to rain 422 feet a day to reach the level indicated by the bible. If I did my math right, that's 211 inches per hour. 422*12=5,064. So 5,064 inches in 24 hours comes out to 211 inches per hour.

For Mt. Everest it would have had to have rained right at 364 inches per hour for 40 days straight to match the story in the bible.

Why didn't the fish die? Surely that much fresh water mixing with that much salt water would have killed all marine life... what about the plants? 40 days of constant rain and anywhere from 16,000 feet - 30,000 feet of water, I'm sure that took a lot of time to receed and drain off in to some magic cup that the bible never explained... so there had to be months and months of water covering plants, blocking out the sun light and air that is needed for them to survive.

The other boats were probably open boats that quickly filled with rain water and sank. Or they might have capsized in the waves of the storm.

Eh..if you would have read the Bible..you would have seen that before that time..it never rained from the sky on the earth...but it was watered by the dew only !!!
Genesis 2:5-6
and it goes on to say after the flood the waters prevailed on the earth 150days.........Genesis7:24

And since they didnt believe Noah anyway...they put not up provisions for anything.........they had no boats..and knew nothing of them then at that time........thats why they made such fun of Noah when he was building it and telling them a flood was coming from heaven......they mocked him and scorned him.......all the while he was obeying and teling them warning them of the wrath to come............Just as we are warning people as yourself..about the wrath to come...but cause you havent seen it before or know nothing of it..you refuse and scorn and mock........and just as it was then..the bible says it will be that way again.........and is this very day........as in "" The days of Noah so shall the coming of the son of man be........""!!!!!!!!!

I congratulate you for this question. The Arc was made to float when people like you were not there to question Noah or the writer of the story. Please put similar questions that does not digest in ordinary minds. Best wishes
