Charm, atheist have a right to not believe, and if you are going to give up your rights not to pray when and where you want, speak when and where you want, you are not wise
the General in charge of the Marines was told to cease and desist from public prayer in the corp. He told the ACLU to take a flying leap cause they did not run the Corp. He told them to stuff their view up their *** because the marines love Jesus.

show a little spine, like the rest of us

I do know how fast things can go from good to bad, or not so good to real bad. But I am a christian so I keep in mind, that God holds my life, not i

The American "Thanksgiving" is not a common holiday in other Christian countries, so I don't have to consider that question.

But certainly there are many things to be thankful for. Actually, thankfulness is one of the most healthy emotions you can have, if you want to find peace in mind and happiness. Try it out for yourself, it will open your mind tremendously!

Be thankful for the postman giving you post, for the busdriver driving the buses, for all the people involved in growing, producing and distributing your food, for the people fixing electricity to your house and computer, for your teachers teaching you what you need to know, for your parents taking care of you when you were a small child, for annoying people giving you the opportunity to practise patience and compassion, for the shopkeepers offering you things you need and giving you change back, for the anonymous people keeping the roads free from dust and rubbish when you sleep, really, virtually everyone is worth thanks!

Asking what's the point of being thankful is a little like asking what's the point of being happy or being joyful. I think you know the answer if you think.

Actually, I'm thankful there are so many people to be thankful to! If you try this attitude you will find it's worth and thank me for the suggestion ;)

Thanks for asking this question! :)

Thanksgiving is DEFINITELY a "religious" holiday. It was set aside by the early Americans as a day to thank God for all the bounty He provided.

God's Word tells us that there will come a day when "EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Unfortunately, knowing it THEN, might be too late for some.

God bless you!

Personally, I hate thanksgiving!!!! I never ever celebrate it because my family just gets even fatter and drunker and everyone fights. Not only do I not enjoy celebrating obesity, but I disagree with celebrating the murder of millions of native americans. Also, I should point out that it isn't a religious holiday, so your question is kind of pointless.

I don't believe in the idea of God most people hold to. But I definitely feel I can still be thankful! Being grateful for what I have, and knowing I am blessed, is helpful and encouraging to me. I don't have to be thankful to a god, I can be thankful to my family, to those who love and encourage me, and to those who have taught me the hard lessons. I can be thankful to ME for all the things I have done to improve myself and my life. I definitely don't need a god to be thankful, grateful, or blessed!

Well I believe in the Lord, so I can't answer what goes thru atheists pea brains. I do have to say I'm tired of hearing about their rights to not believe. So us christians can't pray in public, they have taken it out of our schools, and government. If they don't believe they should just shut-up. Why is it the majority has to get rid of "in god we trust"
they even gripe at stores when the employees say merry christmas! douche-bags!

Atheists don't have to believe in God to be thankful. When I was an atheist I had a lot to be thankful for - my family, friends, a roof over my head. Just the simple fact that I woke up alive every day. I don't know who I was thankful to exactly...just fate in general I guess. But like I said they don't have to believe in God to feel thankful.
