I'll give you 11 reasons.

*Cell Processor- The cell processor is an extremely powerful micro processor built of 8 processors (SPE's) and one PPE. This processor is built for extreme amounts of processing and is very useful for multi tasking through artificial intelligence, physics, lighting navigation, etc- The xbox 360 has a 3 core processor, which is strong in general processing, albeit not the best for video games.

*RSX GPU- The RSX is a powerful GPU which is specialized to work with the cell processor to render DX10 like graphics by pooling it's RAM.- The xbox 360's GPU can only handle DX-9, while is good in the graphics department, though not the best.

*Blu Ray- The next generation disc medium which can store up to 50GB (100GB in experimental models) The extra space allows game developers to make large responsive environments, complex artificial intelegance, HD video and audio, etc. without compression.- The xbox 360 only uses DVD for games, which can only hold 9GB, which results in short games, aka Halo 3, Bioshock, and gears of war.

*Other operating systems- The ps3 can get different operating systems installed, such as Linux, allowing it to be an alternative computer, and you can install many diferent programs.- The xbox 360 cannot do this

*Web browser- The ps3 has a decent web browser, which you can go to many different web sites with, it does have basic flash updates, but it does need to be improved upon, including in java, though this can be fixed easily via a firmware upgrade. Many popular sites like myspace and youtube are accessable though.- the xbox 360 doesn't have one

*Play TV- Pretty much Tivo for your ps3, a tuner that you can record things with. Though it has only been announced to launch in Europe so far.

*Interchangeable hard drive- This pretty much means you can change the size of your hard drive with any hard drive so you can store more things.- you have to buy an expensive MS HDD for the 360

*Built in wifi- Wifi lets you connect to the internet wirelessly- With the xbox 360 you have to buy a wifi adapter for $100, this comes standard in the PS3.

*Free Online- the xbox 360 costs $50 per year

*Playstation Home- Playstation home is an interactive community of ps3 users where you can play games or meet up with friends and hang out at your virtual home and hang outs, as well as stream live media(releasing in october, and is FREE)

* Games- For now good games include; Heavenly Sword, Resistance Fall of Man, Rainbow Six Vegas, Folklore, warhawk, lair, and motorstorm. Good upcoming games are Ratchet and Clank Future, Call of Duty 4, Haze, Uncharted:Drakes Fortune, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo Prologue, Eye of Judgment, LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM confrontation, Tekken 6, Time Crisis 4, White Knight Story, and Final Fantasy XIII. Over 300 games will be released by next spring.

1. Better exclusive games coming (GTA, Ratchet & Clank, MGS4, GT5, Killzone 2, Unreal Tournament, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc)

2. Built in blue ray player (you have to buy seperate external hd-dvd player for 360)

3. Guitar Hero 3 has a wireless guitar and 360's doesn't

4. Motion sensitive controllers

5. Every sku has a hard drive (game manufacturers love this)

6. They are WAY more reliable (1/3 xboxes gets the rings of death)

7. The HD PSEye just came out which is going to have sick games in the future.

8. Sony's coming out with HOME next year, which will revolutionize how gamers communicate

9. Backwards compatibility

10. Once programmers learn to unleash the power of the RSX in the cell the graphics will be unbeatable. Look at the xbox360 games 12 months after launch and look at the PS3's. It's only going to get better.

PS 3 will dominate, no doubt. People who say otherwise are blind.

33% failure rate for xbox, ~12 million units sold = 4 million
units returned for repair. After only TWO YEARS. Wait till the systems start getting older. Microsoft is actually losing money with the xbox 360 = huge potential problems, and possible abandoning of the project in general.

Games:
Sure xbox has more games now, but it has been out twice as long as the PS 3. Plus with all the problems xbox is having, I have a feeling that they will start to lose their game contracts as well. While PS 3 is going strong. There is a list on wikipedia for upcoming PS 3 and xbox 360 games. This includes games that are either out, or will be out shortly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ps3_games - 295 games for PS 3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_games - 390 games for xbox 360.

PS 3 is catching up. So soon, games won't really be a problem.

Graphics:
Apparently people claim that either xbox 360 is better on this subject, or there isn't any difference at all. PS 3 has fully better hardware than xbox 360, the only thing xbox 360 has on PS 3 is more RAM. So if PS 3 doesn't have good graphics now, it's the games not the system. The technology is new to programmers, they will soon catch on, and the graphics will be impressive.

Disks:
PS 3 disks store up to 54Gb of data, xbox 360, only 15. No big deal some say? Games aren't that big anyways? WRONG. Upcoming GTA 4, xbox 360 version is said to be split onto several disks, while PS 3 version fits on a single disk. This means that during the game, players will have to change disks, and with the instability of the xbox console, don't know if its a good idea. Probably you will see even more crashes and freezes.

Internet:
PS 3 is fully free, xbox 360, have to pay for xbox live. Although xbox live is better than the PS 3 network now. But again, PS 3 is improving their network, they will easily catch up here. No question about it. Plus again, xbox losing money, which means potential problems, they will be mostly working on their hardware problems for sometime. While PS 3 can catch up on the software, on which it isn't so far behind. Not as far as xbox is behind on it's hardware. 33% return rate, compared to .02%. xbox has a long way to go.

And again, reliability:
PS 3 is a lot more reliable. Very few problems with it compared to xbox 360. Lots of xbox 360's either brake from the start, or after a year or so. Of course there are people who have had no problems with theirs for 2 years. But 1/3 of everyone who bought one did. Buying one seems risky. Plus think of the hustle you will have to go through to get it replaced when it breaks down. Some people have had theirs replaced up to 4-5 times. That's just crazy. And at this failure rate, this just means that the systems are poorly built. Which means they won't last very long, 2-3 years, when they start to wear down due to time, you might have to buy a new system. Aside from that, lots of crashing, freezing and lag has been reported.

PS 3 has a bright future. Xbox 360, seems good at first glance, but in the long run, it will fail.

THe people who don't like it are the ones who couldn't wait a year to get a quality system and are ticked off because they settled for the 360 and are waiting for it to get back from the repair shop. THe ps3 future at this point has no limit. THe 360 is already outdated and can't be upgraded using software.

I quite have a ps3, and that i like it. It has blue ray discs, so the portraits are slightly greater advantageous than xbox. additionally, a ps3 is greater much less high priced to purchase. yet one greater reason is which you're able to desire to pay xbox each and each month just to pay on line, the place the ps3 is unfastened to play on line

This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it (sources below). I update it from time to time.

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.

PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics chips, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. However, PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.

Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.

In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 controller is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) in 1st quarter 2008, Japan gets it in this November.

On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.
