I have the VIN of my '65 mustang and I got it decoded, but it didn't say anything about the origional color. Is there any way to find that out?

You can't tell by looking at the VIN what the original color was. However on the sticker inside the door it should have a color code that any auto parts store should be able to identify.

There is a metal tag in the drivers door. It has the vin number and under the vin number is another set of numbers and letters.One of those is the color code,take that info. to the paint store and they can tell you the right color.

You need to use a data plate decoder. Your data plate should be on the inside of your door jam. Get the data and go here:
