This is going to sound odd, but the two 'people' who inspired me the most were my mom and my old German shepherd search dog, Cody.
My mom was a paraplegic, but that never stopped her from doing anything she needed or wanted to do. She raised two daughters by herself, coped with an alcoholic family member, and still had time to be a world-class cook, a good artist, and a mall rat who could shop until *I* dropped. (I was the "wheelchair motor," as it were.)
And anybody who says that a dog can't be a person never met Cody. He was a big old mush puppy who developed a condition that caused all his fur to fall out. Even when the vets had to hurt him doing diagnostic tests, he gave them chin kissies and tried to make them feel better.
Both of them left me much too soon -- Mom from cancer and Cody from a stomach tumor that caused bloat. But they taught me how to live gracefully even when the odds are stacked against you and how to keep on loving no matter what life hands you.
Hugs and kisses to both of them tonight, in whatever corner of Heaven that they happen to be lighting up with their wonderful, funny, ornery, loving presence.
Good question, my friend. ((((Rammie)))

My mother inspires me everyday. My father died thirty years ago, and he was my hero. I thought he was the most brilliant man in the world, and always a champion of the downtrodden. I thought my mother was just a quiet little southern belle, and I was not going to be anything like her. The older I get, the more I realize how strong and wise she was, and still is to this day.
Addition: My two daughters blow my mind, too! They are raising fine children with values and ambitions.

Actually my two daughters are.
They have already accomplished so much and they have not even gotten out into the world yet. They are comfortable with who they are and have not molded to be what others want them to be

Even though she passed away in 1979, it is my paternal grandmother. She was widowed young, raised three kids by herself during the Depression and had a will of iron.

My wife, she is who got me on YA answer, she is always telling me that I can do things, that I am not comfortable doing.
and when i want to do something, she is always behind me 100%,
the fact that she is back there pushing, in inconsequential.
