whenever i put pressure above my ankle, i have this sharp pain that goes through my ENTIRE foot. i think it has something to do with the nerves. not sure. HELP ME OUT HERE! thanx.

Please don't listen to the person above, who obviously doesn't value walking.

Just like the wrists with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, you can get this in the foot and it's known as Tarsal tunnel syndrome. This is where a nerve behind the ankle becomes compressed, sending pain into the foot.

Treatment is varied depending upon severity. Shoe inserts might help and if not steroid injections if it's more severe. Surgery can also be performed, although it's success rate is debatable.

If it hurts under pressure, then stop putting pressure on it.
