Okay this is more for the girls but boys can answer too. Oh a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst how bad does getting a lower back tattoo hurt? I am getting my very first tattoo ever on Friday. Trust me I am not a complete wimp but I was just wondering how badly I am going to suffer. The tattoo I am getting is going across my lower back. It is not tiny but it is not huge either. It is medium size I would say. Any advice for the big day???

Katie,
Some places will hurt more than others and I tell ya this if it hurt that bad NONE of us would have them!

Its going to feel like a bee sting or a cat scratch that doesnt stop and afterwards it will feel like a light sunburn for a day or so. Nothing horrible! Im a chicken and have many of my own.

Advice for the big day.... wear something comfy that you can slide down if needed to allow the artist room to work. Wear something you dont mind IF they get some ink on it, accidents happen! Keep breathing and dont be afraid to ask for a break if you need one. Dont move while you hear the machine running and just relax and let the artist do all the hard work! You just need to sit there and relax!

hope this helped!

I have a couple tattoos and one is on my lower back. It is about medium sized. It did hurt but i could handle it. The outline hurts worse than the coloring in. Im not going to lie, i did have to take a short break form it and im not a wimp either, i have all kinds of piercing. but i guess everyone is different. it is going to hurt but in the end you will be glad that you did it, i promise. but on a scale from 1-10, I'd say...5 or 6.

The lower back is a great place to get your first, provided you have a good tattooist, and he/she is not trying to look down your pants.

It's relatively dull pain-wise, and in an area where it's easy to bear without getting jumpy.

I found the bigger issue to be after it was done. It peeled and itched far worse than any of the others I have, mostly due to the constant bending/stetching that skin does with normal movement. It is a testament to your willpower not to fiddle with it while it's healing. I would suggest your get yourself a good mild anti-itch lotion to start putting on it after about 48 hours. For about a week, I was lotioning it up every two hours or so while awake, to avoid scratching it.

Once you get past that little irritating time-frame, it's fine. It also is a good one to get in case of weight gain/loss.

Have fun, good luck, and make sure you go with someone so you can chat and not concentrate on it.

The lower back is one of the most painless areas -- at least for me. I would say about a 3-4. Just relax, the initial anxiety is worse. Once you are about 10 minutes into it you will be fine.

Tattoos are easy, the pain if you experience any at all is pretty minor. Take a look around and notice all the people who have tattoos if they were really painful you would see less people with tattoos.

But don't get one on your lower back though everyone does that.

Absolutely.
There exist prospects for a lifetime of sufferance.

First look at tattoo on old folks that have had one for years.
Consider how a design choice may seem less than clever in lifetime remaining. Why do some go bad and others were
obviously better design choices? To put another way, ladies, some stand the mark and others sit less happily.

depends on how you handle pain? also depends on who is inking you. i have four tattoo on my upper arm. so can't tell you about how it'll feel on your lower back. just take some over the counter pain reliever before getting it.

Its not too bad. The worst part is when they go over your spine. All you really feel is the vibrating. It almost feels like your skin is being scratched raw.
