you know, those big window 3 speed fans. I assume nowhere near an AC. Would it even be more or less electricity used compared to keeping a lamp on?

Every U.L. Listed appliance will have a nameplate
listing its load in Watts and current requirements.
READ IT.

Depending on the manufacturer of the window fan, some rate their fans at 80+ watts on high. This would be a bit more than a standard 60 watt light bulb.
