a few moments ago I was looking for a link on Buddhism
the first link I found on a YA search was a wiki link
and even though it gave me some content of the page on the search page ... when I clicked on the link it took me to the wiki page
but all it had on the page was
" Buddhism sucks " by anonymous
I think it had been hacked ... and then my pc went nuts and I had to close it down
I will probably have to do a virus check now
can someone do this ? hack into something like wiki ?

anyway thought I would warn you all just incase

The Wikipedia page was probably just vandalized, but you may have a virus from an unrelated source. To be sure, you should install an anti-virus. AVG is available free:

I have books on every major religion, but thanks for the heads up. I do use wiki rather than my books sometimes, but if it is a serious question you have, back it up with another site. Wiki has left a few with their QorA torn to shreds with a more reliable source. For intance, if you were having trouble remembering a particular Pagan practice, you could probably use wiki, because I'm sure you would spot out and out misinformation. Make sense? {{{Pangel}}}

My Yahoo Answers went down at the same time. It is ok now.

Twice today on searches I encountered some virus checker trying to download on me, my own virus protection saw it off.

I had a look at Marvin Gaye's Wiki page the other day to look up something and it had something not very nice on there.

Just had a look at the Buddhism page on Wikipedia and it looks okay.

Yes, a trojan or worm can be on a site which will infect your pc just by visiting that page.

As anyone can edit wikipedia, there is some vandalism. It's probably coincidence that your computer crashed at this point.

Anyone can be a contributer to wikipedia. That's why it isn't a reliable source for information
