Here's how I do it...
1) Allow carefully examined, eggs to come to room temp.
2) Heat a pot of salty water to boiling.
3) Add eggs carefully with a ladle.
4) Boil gently for 20 minutes.
5) Cool completely under cold running water.
6) Peel and eat as desired.

You can find a cheap item that will poke a tiny hole in the end of the egg. Probably find it in a dollar store.
If you can't find one, lower the egg very slowly into the boiling water - a little at a time so the egg shell has a chance to get used to the hot water.
For hard-boiled eggs, start the eggs in cold water, put the burner on low, and let the water come to a slow simmer.

Either poke the hole in the wide end (I just use a needle) or try some vinegar in the water, white vinegar.

Put eggs in your pan first, cover with at least an inch of water, bring the water to a boil, cover and remove from the heat and LET THE PAN SIT for 15 minutes, drain the water, be gentle with the eggs, immediately fill the pan with cold water and continue to keep the water cold.

The proper and easiest way to hard boil eggs is to put them in a pot with cold water to cover. Put lid on the pot , high heat . Bring to a boil and boil about 30 seconds. turn off the heat and leave for 15 minutes. Then run under coo water and peel. Perfect every time.

I swear by TWO things! First, the eggs can NOT be fresh! Second, add about 4 good shakes of salt to the water and eggs. Oh and be sure to run under cold water for a good 5 minutes after they are done!
