I am a department head where I work. I have been offered a different position with the same company, more money and an upgrade into a pre-management position. ALSO much more stress, I will be in charge of about 10 people under me. It is the only way to go if I want to be in assistant manager line. I do, it is more money and I am not worried about being capable. It is just a huge change from being in my own department running how I want and knowing I do a good job there. It will mean a lot more stress in my life, however. I have already had one heart attack, totally related to stress. However, I have worked a 7 day week for 3 years and still can't meet my bills and avoiding creditors is definitely stressful. What do you think?????

Just go ahead and do it! Wouldn't you hate looking back at this time and wondering what it would have been like if you did end up taking the job? Better to do it than wonder! If anything, it will show the higher-ups that you are progressive and willing to take on other and advancing tasks.

I'd take the job, but find some way to work six days a week at most, preferably just five most of the time, even if you have to take some paperwork home to keep up with everything.

Good luck.
