There are several types of "combat pay".

What most people think of as "combat pay" comes to an extra $5 a day. Big whoop. I don't know if you get that in Qatar or not.

What really matters is the "combat zone tax exemption". If you are in a combat zone... even if just for one day... that entire month's pay is free from Federal Income tax.

In Qatar you do get the combat zone tax exemption, at least you did when I was there.

I sincerely hope NOT!

No Ones being Shot, IED'd , VBIED'd, Rocketed, Mortared in Qatar.

It was an R&R spot for Officers and Senior NCO's while the rest of us FES(Filthy Enlisted Swine) got Green Zone Passes(if even that)

The AF gets hostile fire pay and imminent danger pay while in Qatar.
