My girlfriend and I were talking about what our wedding would be like if we got married, and started talking about who would be our flower girl and ring bearer.

We have quite a few little boys in our families who could be the ring bearer - five boys who would be between the ages of 3 and 5 by the time we would probably get married.

Flower girl would be a much bigger problem. We have only one younger girl in either of our families, and she would be at least 7 by the time we got married. The only other little girl we could think of is the daughter of a close friend of mine, who would be about 3 by the time we had a wedding.

What are the acceptable ages for kids to be ring bearers and flower girls?

They can be however old or however young you want them to be.

A 7 year old flower girl would be a good age. So would the 3 year old.

Hi. Some books say 3-7 for flower girls and ring bearers; other books say 4-8. Personally, I think up to the age of 9 or maybe even 10 would be OK. Anything after that should be made a "junior" bridesmaid or "junior" groomsman.

So....everyone in your families would be fine for both flower girl(s) and ring bearer(s).

Usually, flower girls and ring bearers are between two and eight, junior bridesmaids and groomsmen are between nine and fifteen, and anyone older than sixteen could be bridesmaids or groomsmen, but it depends on the wedding and the family. Usually you match ages of the flower girl and ring bearer, but if you have an especially shy ring bearer who's younger and an older flower girl who's more outgoing, it helps get them both down the aisle.

Usually between the ages of 4-8, depending on their maturity and personality. Younger than that is adorable, but difficult. A lot of kids who are normally outgoing shy away from walking down an aisle with a whole bunch of people looking at them. I personally think that although kids around 4 are the cutest, 6 or 7 year olds are the easiest to work with.

Why make a 13 year old TEEN wear something that was worn by you (a female) years back? I'm sorry but the idea of the outfit sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a really bad joke. If you want a flower boy and he's willing to do it, then go ahead but keep him in a nice suit that will not embarrass him in the years to come.

I would say that between the ages of 5-10 would probably be the easiest on your nerves....but you could go as young as 3. However, you must remember that a 3 yeard old won't always to what you expect of him/her.

To be safe I picked a little girl and a little boy who were 5 going on 6.

It really doesn't matter what age they are. I work in a bridal store and we had a 10 yr. old flower girl. It's up to you and your bride. Also, you don't HAVE to have both. My sister is getting married and is having three flower girls and no ring bearer.

not sure if there is really an "acceptable age" so to speak. it really just depends on how mature they are and if they can handle what they need to do. for example, i'm getting married in january... it's just going to be my husband and i- no bridal party- but i have a 2 yr old daughter that i want included. her role would've been the "flower girl" however, i knew she'd be intimidated and scared if she walked down the aisle herself, everyone staring at her in a place she's not familiar with, she wouldn't know or remember to throw petals, etc... so i opted for her to have a miniature bouquet resembling mine, and walk down with me. i know you're not actually planning your own wedding, but there's an alternative to think about if the little ones are too young to do something on their own. looks like you won't have any issues, though- especially since they have other children in the family their age to go w/ them. take care!

I'm not exactly sure but I am planning my wedding and I wouldn't want them to be older then 6 or 7..they also can't be too young, or they can its just easier if they are a little bit older. It's completely up to you guys though.
