Mine have mostly been based off of colors.... we first thought of a deep plum/violet, then it was cream and blue, and now I am debating between cream and blue or black and creamy gold.... hmmmm.
Our science center here is actually inexpensive and they have this one intimate room with a "starlight" ceiling... I know it sounds potentially tacky but it is very beautiful in person. My dress is all sparkly so I thought maybe having an elegant nighttime theme would be cool.

Well, we're doing the ceremony a little more asian themed (tibetan prayer flags hung up, buddhist chaplain marrying us, I"ll be wearing an Indian dress). The reception will be fall-themed with lots of fall-colored decorations. Trying to merge the two, the ceremony will utilize fall colors even though asian (my dress is of a brown-ish orange color, for example).

a friend of mine was married with a luau themed wedding/reception.
mine, like the 1st poster, is more based on the colors i have chosen.
i decided since i'm having a spring wedding i'll have a lot of color. pinks, blushes, peaches, lilacs, light blues...
the decorations at the reception will follow... bright but not overdone color!
