"Mary is truly 'Mother of God' since she is the mother of the eternal Son of God made man, who is God himself" (Catechism of the Catholic Church #509). "In fact, the One whom she conceived as man by the Holy Spirit, who truly became her Son according to the flesh, was none other than the Father's eternal Son, the second person of the Holy Trinity. Hence the Church confesses that Mary is truly 'Mother of God' (Theo-tokos)" 7 (Catechism of the Catholic Church #495).

Mary's title "Mother of God" is inseparable from Christ's two essential titles, "Son of God" and "Son of Man"; to deny Mary her title is to deny Christ his. To deny that Mary is the Mother of God is either to deny Christ's divinity (that is, to deny that Mary's Son is God) or to deny his Incarnation (that is, to deny that God really became Mary's Son). And these two doctrines, of Christ's divinity and Incarnation, are two of the earliest and most central of all Christian dogmas.

How can you deny Mary?

I must agree with you. In Christian doctrine, Jesus is God in flesh and Jesus's mother is Mary. Therefore, Mary is mother of God and as such deserves the utmost respect. Catholicism doesn't worship Mary it only reveres her as Jesus would want them to. Many Protestants and evangelicals ignore Mary and even call her a 'simple woman'. This goes against Christianity since she bore their God. You are correct, to deny Mary is to deny Jesus.

Whoa, hold up.
I'm not understanding exactly what you are getting at here.
OF COURSE, Mary is Christ's mother, and of course, He is God made flesh. I don't think very many Christians are "denying" this, are they?
Now, if you are trying to tell us that carrying a Divine Child also made Mary divine, I have to ask you...do you suppose that if I carry groceries in my car that somehow my car is transformed into a loaf of bread?
Sure, it sounds silly...take it a step further. Would you say that Charles Manson's mother is a serial killer? Of course not! Would you say that the pope's mom is Christ's vicar on earth? NO? But why not??

Who is denying Mary?? She is one of the great women in the Bible!! She, out of all of womankind, was chosen to bear the Son of God!!! She is, surely, "blessed among women"!!!!!!!

However, she is still just a woman. A wife and a mother (yes, she and Joseph had a normal married life after Jesus, and there were other children). Yes, she is blessed...but she is not in any way Divine.

I bet that if a Catholic said something to the effect of "Try to get away from Luther and the Larger Catechism and focus on the truth," the manure would hit the oscillating cooling device. How dare you Catholics tell us to ignore the basis of our doctrine and beliefs!

But it's perfectly OK for a Protestant to tell us Catholics that we need to ignore our Catechism and not accept the doctrines which it teaches. The term "double standard" comes to mind.

Easily as # 123 . She was a sinner like every human born of this earth , in need of of a savior . She was just a obedient servant doing what God asked her to do .So that makes her special ? She has no divine power ,is not helping Jesus with any prayers in heaven .

Have to agree with Spike here, "'Mary worship' is nothing more than a man-made fairy story..."
There's no warrant for it in Holy Scripture. It defies logic that the created could be the mother of the creator. Just a lot of vain superstition.

Boo-ya!!! Right on, TL
Try taking them one step further: The Holy Spirit is responsible for all the apparitions of the BVM lately and throughout the ages, and if someone thinks that they are of the devil, they are directly committing the Unforgivable Sin. (Which is to attribute God's works to the devil) May God have mercy on us!

this 'mary worship' is nothing more than a man-made fairy story...please, leave the 'cult of catechism' behind for a second, if that is possible, and use just a smidgen of logic...God created mary, which means that she cannot BE His mother...she is only the birth mother of the physical Jesus...Christ existed long before mary's great-great-great-great-great grandparents were even conceived...tell me, where was SHE at the time of the garden of eden??? God was there, and Christ was there as well...Christ was there 'in the beginning'...mary was nowhere to be found

Mary was a righteous women who God blessed by allowing her to bear His son.

Mary is not our Redeemer, for she said herself, that she rejoiced in her savior.
