THe idea of being lost implies there is some goal or destination one is trying to reach. Those goals are cultural choices, so one a certain level one is as valid as another. Personally, I'd say anyone who devotes their life to following the words of tribesmen living thousands of years ago is wasting their life. But so is someone whose life is centered around hedonistic pleasures like sex or drugs. Depends on what you choose to value.
One caveat: Some people with obsessive or other mental disorders can get lost in scripture, but they could also get lost in "The Catcher in the Rye" or the movie "Taxi Driver", or the music of John Lennon. The fault there lies in their disability, and not the object of their mania.

You need God's Holy Spirit to guide you. Jesus said He was the truth, the light and the way. He also said You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Find a church that believes that and is not condensing about it. And you've got yourself the right church.
Other than that you are like the blind. And Jesus said to let the blind lead the blind and they both will fall into the ditch. Sometimes people want a preacher to tell them only what they want to hear. Not what is written in God's word that has standards.

You cant commit the unpardonable sin except you recognize and settle for the gospel first and then KNOWINGLY turn your back on it. the actual undeniable actuality that it even exists shows you could, certainly, lose their salvation. If we do our aspects and stay committed to God then no, he will by no skill supply up on us. If we sin, it doesnt immediately remove our salvation....as long as we repent and make an attempt to regulate and be more advantageous. God is extremely a lot in contact contained in the state of our heart, no longer the words we declare. human beings have SO watered down the gospel that its just about insulting to have self assurance someone can recite some pre-written "salvation prayer" and then stay a existence of intentional sin..and nonetheless bypass to heaven. As for Peter, Paul and every other preacher of today, jesus said this;

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Peter denied Jesus not once but 3 times, do you not believe the Words Jesus spoke.

That depends upon what scriptures you are following.
The Qur'an's?
The Jehovah's Witness Bible?
The Adventist Bible?
The Mormon scriptures?
Some can even be lost by following a King James version Bible.
The key is to follow and believe in Jesus Christ.

If you are seeking truth, "scriptures" should be abandoned, along with every other bit of superstitious nonsense. So yes, one can become very lost following scripture.
