Macro evolution? In order for it to be possible wouldn't information need to be added to an organisms genetic code for animals to transform from one creature to another. That is impossible... i'm just confused ....

It happens every time a child is born with Down's Syndrome because of an extra chromosome 21.
Atheism is a belief that there is no God, the Theory of Evolution is a scientific theory. The two have nothing to do with each other.

If there are so many holes you have another problem, namely:
Why there is so much idiocy or moral degeneracy in the scientific and educational professions?
Oh, and in the Roman Catholic church, which accepts the basic process of evolution? Oh, and amongst those protestant Christians who are firm that the evidence is for an old earth and evolution?

Belief in evolution is nothing like an "atheist-only" proposition.

As for the details, you need to study a lot more before you can possibly conclude something in this area is "impossible".
Not least because progress continues to be made.

Relax... it's a complex issue and confusion is not uncommon. The genetic code becomes more complex as you move from single cell organisms to more evolved life forms. But the changes are gradual and occur over great lengths of time.

Think about dogs, which all evolved from wolves. Look at the great number of breeds with drastically different sizes and other traits. THose changes were engineered by humans, and occured rather quickly. So look at a wolf, then look at a beagle and a great dane. Multiply those changes over millions and millions of years, and you get an idea how evolution works.

Evolution is a simple learning algorithm. Information is transferred into the biological system as the system learns how to win the survival game. Each natural selection event ( birth or death ) can add a bit into the system.

It is simple and is a fact, not impossible at all. Lots of software learning systems in fact, learn with the same algorithm.

It's actually quite simple. The organism doesn't change overnight or anything. You're talking about millions of years of change. Some of the organisims follow those changes, and some don't. That's how there can be so many different types to the same basic animal. Take humans for example, we have so many raical traits, from heights, skin colors, eye colors, hair colors, body types, ect. ect. We all keep changing like we always have.

"That is impossible..." No it's not.

The problem seems to be with how you perceive the evolutionary process to occur. Animals do NOT transform from one creature to another. That's not what evolution through natural selection describes. To understand what evolution is consult talkorigins.

Information does get added to genomes.
Who ever told you that it doesn't?
In some cases a species will actually lose genetic information in adapting, but it is the other way just about the same number of times.
What usually happens is that the genes get shuffled around a lot.

You ARE confused. It's not impossible. Perhaps you've never heard of gene duplication? You see, genetic information is doubled in error of replication every now and then, which ends you up with two copies of the same material. Sometimes, one set of these materials mutates while the other stays the same. Now we have more, new information.

As for 'macro-evolution', are you revering to speciation? Because we HAVE observed this quite a bit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciation

As you end by admitting that the Theory of Evolution confuses you, you are really in no position to bash either it or us for accepting it.

If you don't understand a thing, replacing it with magic is really not solving the initial problem is it?

Atheist.

I not aware of any religion that could be considered air tight. Atheism does not hinge on evolution either. It's just that Atheism and evolution appeal to rational, moral, and sane people, while many of the religions appeal to the opposite.
