The RDG is a Communist copy of the WWII German "Potato Masher" Grenade. There is a threaded cap at the base of the hollow handle. It is unscrewed, and a small wooden or plastic ball comes out attached to a short cord. To arm the grenade you simply pull on the ball /cord and toss the Grenade. The cord is attached to a trigger mechanism that ignites when the arming cord is pulled igniting a short time delayed fuse that after a few seconds delay, burns down and detonates the main charge in the grenade. The example shown , is actually a "concussion" grenade that has had a "fragmentation" sleeve clipped on top of the grenade housing so it will fragment on detonation. These were designed/used as anti-personnel grenades. These were used by Chinese Communists during the Korean war, by the Viet Cong and NVA in Vietnam, and are currently used by Insurgents in the Iraq war.......

Yeah like JD said, this is the Russian WWII grenade, but I thought you pressed a button on the top of the grenade to arm it, then throw it.... a stick grenade like the Germans...... I thought you push in the primer in the top center of the grenade and throw it..... something like that.....
