To put it simply---we “sleep,” because due to Christ’s ransom sacrifice there is the hope of a resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:22) When Lazarus (a dear friend of Jesus) died, Jesus said: “I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.” Then he explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Paul also spoke about those “who are sleeping in death.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14; 1 Corinthians 15:20
Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 says this regarding death:
"For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust."
God’s Word teaches, that when a man dies “his thoughts do perish.” (Psalm 146:4) It also teaches that the sleeping dead will rise during the glorious rule of God’s Kingdom, for which many pray, when “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”—Acts 24:15; Matthew 6:9, 10.

From a Christian point of view I personally don't believe in reincarnation. Or that there is a literal hell just yet.

If you are open minded to the Bible, it says that nothing happens to you when you die; when you're dead, you're dead. And stay dead until the 2nd coming of Jesus, at which point you'll be raised if you were good or you remain 'asleep' till the 2nd resurrection which is a whole different subject.

Solomon wrote, “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in anything that is done under the sun... Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10)

David repeats the same timeless truth too when he says:

“The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence”
(Psalm 115:17).

This text wouldn't make sense as there are obviously people who have died who were righteous so why would they not praise and glorify God if they could still think and communicate beyond the grave?

Also see:

“For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day” (Isaiah 38:18, 19).

“For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks” (Psalm 6:5).

Remember - The Bible says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God." 2 Timothy 3:16

I like to believe in reincarnation. What would you rather believe. That we go to a wonderful place where we run through white clouds organized by some super being or the thought of coming back to life in a new body. How many people have said "someone just walked over my grave" when they shiver. The grave they refer to is the one from a past life. Ghosts are nothing more than people who have not moved on. If there is actually a super being(God), how can he/she allow so much suffering in the world and how can he/she allow people who preach his so called word, the ability to live so well and have so much money. Unfortunately no one has actually come back to give us the true story, but for sure we will all discover the truth one day.

You'll need the manual on the universe. I believe the manual. The author said in Matthew 22:32 that He is the God of the living and not of the dead.

The manual also says how we live on this earth determines where we spend the afterlife. It is curious that before we are born we have no control over where or when or how we will be born. Yet for what happens after our time on earth, our power of choice is most important.

Me personally I choose life and to be in God's love forever with his forever children. It is great to be in a kingdom of eternal children and a loving God and with his holy angels, where anything and everything is possible.

Science suggests that reincarnation *is* real. People have been documented to have intimate knowledge of the lives of people from long ago when they couldn't have had such knowledge naturally.

But I think reincarnation only continues until you get an honest opportunity to accept or reject Jesus. Then you get to go to Heaven or Hell.

The Bible tells us, contrary to popular theology, that when we die, we enter a state of unconsciousness, like a "sleep". We "sleep" in the grave until Christ returns. Those who are saved are resurrected bodily, into a new, perfect version of their old selves. Those who are lost continue to sleep in the grave for another 1,000 years, when Christ will return with the Saved to judge the wicked of all ages. Then the wicked will be resurrected into their old bodies they had before they died. They will all have to bow before God and admit that He is Lord and His decisions are just. After that, Satan will lead them to attack God's Holy City (the New Jerusalem), but then fire (hellfire) will rain down from Heaven and consume them. They will not be tortured forever. To believe that sinners will be tortured forever in fire is to believe that sin is stronger than God! No, God will destroy Satan, sin and sinners forever, and there will finally be peace. Then God will re-create the Earth, the way it used to be before Adam and Eve lost it, and the Saved will be allowed to live there.

Our spirits is allow into paradise, however paradise is divided by a great gulf, some are sent to the right side and some to the left side, but after Jesus inherited the kingdom, he allowed all spirits to rest on the right side of the gulf until their season of rest was fulfilled, then they were all taken before God and Jesus and there they were given the rewards, based upon there works/

as quickly as I die, others will nonetheless be alive getting on with their lives. perchance i might opt to think of a few might mourn my death, yet which will rely on what I did in existence. as quickly as I die, I would be not greater, so I heavily isn't wide awake and for this reason I heavily isn't able to comprehend what happens following my dying. So there is not any element annoying approximately it.

For the born again Christian, to be absent from this body is to be in heaven with the Lord.
http://www.90minutesinheaven.com .

For those who never rejected Christ, yet never committed or trusted Him as their Lord & Savior, I think they go to a place of rest.

For those who rejected Christ when the Gospel of the Kingdom of God was presented correctly in Gods love; & they were then the devils messengers they end up in hell fire.

Your consciousness dies with your body. Your body then lies in the ground and returns to the earth unless you've been cremated in which case your ashes are either kept in a jar or scattered to the winds.
