To be quite honest with you I have come across a few Catholics who I am not too crazy about and in my opinion they need to back off and stop being all up in my face. All I am doing is trying to understand the religion more but to be hionest I am starting to like some Protestants better then some Catholics and am thinking about becoming a Protestant instead.

No.

You do not have to like everyone even Catholics.

But you do have to love everyone even Catholics.

English is a weak language for talking about different kinds of love. The Greek of the New Testament is much better:
+ Eros: Romantic love
+ Philia: Brotherly (or sisterly) love
+ Storge: Parental love
+ Agape: Godly love

Eros and philia are based on emotions and storge is almost an instinct.

But Agape is a decision to wish for the best for someone.

Christians are commanded to love (agape) their neighbors and enemies. This does not mean we have to like them or approve of their actions.

This love (agape) is almost impossible to do without God's help.

Do you love (agape) the terrorists who flew airplanes into the World Trade Center? This is advanced Christianity.

With love in Christ.

Being a Catholic will not save you just as if you become a Protestant. Only Jesus Christ will save you and you need to come directly to Him for forgiveness of sins and not to any priest who tries to be a continuation of Christ but is a sinner just like you and me.

There are bad apples in every barrel. Don't let the few bad Catholic apples spoil your impression of all things Catholic.

No, but agape love is encouraged towards all mankind. You'll find jerks in every Church, Catholic or not. I know exactly what you're talking about.

Hate the sin, not the sinner, and pray for their enlightenment.

No you don't, there are many of them that I can't stand either, so being a vary opinionated catholic, I simply do not mix my words with some of them, I really do not like hypocrites, specially religious hypocrites from all denominations, and we sure have enough of them out there. Peace be with you.

As a Catholic you have to love all people. Whether you personally like them or not is your own choice.

I don't think anyone is entitled to automatically like another person simply because of what they do or don't believe.

I'm an atheist, and there are a lot of atheists that I don't like at all (several on this board). In my case, not believing in God alone isn't enough to earn a free pass.

We can't like everyone, but I think loving others means wanting and working towards what's best for them

Don't follow a church because of its members, but rather - through prayer and meditation - understand the theology and beliefs. It's better to be annoyed by others in a faith that believe in truth rather than be comfortable in the den of sinners.
