They didn't really accept that Jesus could save them, did they?

Did this catch God by susprise? Had he been assuming that they would really love the Jesus he was sending them?

Was he peeved, annoyed, irritated or what?

It put a kink in his aganda, didn't it? For thousands of years he had been mentoring a chosen people, and when the big culmination came to pass, they didn't like his messiah.

Oh well, give it to the Gentiles, see what they can do with it.

well, the Jews were under hostile occupation by the Romans and they were waiting for a warrior messiah who would unite them, free them and save them from the yoke of harsh military oppression. Jesus did none of those things so of course those ancient Jews weren't impressed with Jesus.
prophets, magicians and messiahs were a dime a dozen.

and it was Paul ... not the Hebrew god that gave "chosen people" status to the Gentiles. according to the New Testament it was never Jesus' intent that the holy status of the Jews be usurped by Gentiles. the first and original Christians were Jewish and one had to be a Jew to be a Christian. then Paul was "blinded by the light", declared his superior understanding of Jesus' intent (without having ever met Jesus in person) then went about undermining Hebrew Law in order to make Christianity more palatable to the Gentiles. Jesus never said that Hebrew Law was voided with his arrival. in fact, he said that he came to fulfill the law not to destroy the law.
now Christians imagine that it's the Jews who must convert to Christianity instead of them having to obey Jesus by following Hebrew Law. strange isn't it? that tho Peter was the designated rock upon Jesus was to build his church it is Paul that the Christians prefer to follow. well, maybe not so strange ... Paul did away with all those pesky Hebrew rules and made becoming a Christian easy as shepherd's pie.

You show that you know nothing about Judaism, which is fine, but your parting shot 'Oh well, give it to the gentiles...' really shows a lot of bitterness.

And in fact, you get the order of events wrong. Jews did not believe that Jesus was the messiah, this is true; he was respected as a Rabbi (teacher) and he was one of many around at that time. But Judaism says that when the real messiah does arrive, certain signs will appear and specific events will happen. Namely, world peace!

The first Christians were Jews, so it wasn't a case of 'giving it to the Gentiles, see what they can do with it.'

God presented a good set of tests so as that the Jews would not be deceive by technique of a pretend messiah. If someone handed those tests, he would were universal. as well to, inherent to the skills will be that there is not any longer a lot selection on the area of any given persons (ie: between the necessities is that he changed into annointed by technique of a prophet (utilising the oil of annointment - an exceptionally certain oil kept contained in the temple) and governed as king). the guy you seem refering to failed the tests. He changed into no longer a king. the in easy words said annointment even contained in the recent testomony changed into at the same time as some female placed body spray on him. He did not keep even one Jew from Roman opression, his followers have led to the inability of life of more advantageous Jews over the a at the same time as then Pharaoh... and as a very last summation "on the on the spot they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into prunning hooks, and no human being shall study conflict anymore" - it is really for sure no longer yet the case.

I like your polemic even though you are likely to get a lot of people "peeved." An interesting question considering that Jesus was a Jew. I think that most rabbis would have an answer for this. Most christians have a different answer. But this might make a few people think. You made me smile and I thank you for that.

We can assume God was hurt when the majority of Jews rejected the Messiah.
Wouldn't you be?
However, your tone indicates an attitude.
Why?
Can you not take delight in that there exists a God who goes more than the full 9 yards and doesn't jump to conclusions?
You, yourself, may benefit from that POV some day.

Hey, smooth as sand paper, slick as tar.

If you read your Bible, with understanding, you would know that Israel, all twelve tribes, will always be God’s chosen people. He made an eternal covenant with them. Man may break contracts, but God never breaks them.

God is never surprised and planned all along to open the gospel to the gentiles......just as He waits until the day the Jews will accept His Son......no surprise again.

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent forth to her,—how often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks together under her wings! But YOU people did not want it. 38 Look! YOUR house is abandoned to YOU."-- Matthew 23:37, 38

The Jews are no longer God's chosen NATION but he accepts people of all nations who worship him in spirit and truth (which includes Jewish people who accept the truth about Christ and his father Jehovah)

It DOES say a lot about a religion when the people who made it up to begin with reject it...
