Hi,
Are there any free TV programs transmitted over-the-air in USA? I mean, If I just buy a TV without having subscription to any cable channels provider or for that matter any MVPD(Multichannel Video Programming Distributor), can I still watch some programs legitimately??

Like in India, they transmit Doordarshan channel for free over-the-air..

Thanks

Go to Antennaweb.org and type in your address. It will show you all the antennas around you and tell you how big of an antenna you need to pick up signals.

It is estimated about 19 million people in the US get their television signals with antennas.

Please NOTE: On Feb 17, 2009 the Analog signals will stop and everything will be digital. Inexpensive converter box's will be available for older TV's. Make sure the TV you buy has a digital tuner and you will be fine.

Yes, it's called network television. NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, CW, PBS are all widely broadcast and many have HD channels also.
