But in a bluetooth headset, aswell as being able to talk to other people can you hear them talking to you through that same bluetooth headset device?

Yes you can but as for bob you can set it up in your settings you can talk into the headset and hear the others out your tv or talk into the headset and hear the others through the headset it all depends on how you set it up.

Yes you can.
This is the same case of a corded headsets (no wireless) or any cellphone.They all have a build-in microphone and a speaker, one to speak and one to hear.
Each one has one circuit to perform eack task. It means, there are 2 audio amplifiers inside. One to transmit and one to receive.
In case of Bluetooth, it is created a channel link to send and receive digital audio.
