If you have m/s word i take it you have the office suite, if thats the case ,instead of using word use m/s publisher, in the proggie you will have everything you need.

You can set it to landscape, which will let you use the paper the long way instead of up-and-down as with text documents. Do this by going into 'File' at the top of the page, then selecting 'Page Set-up', then Landscape. It will have 2 pictures of a sheet of paper with an A on it, to show you the diff b/t normal and landscape.
You can import pictures from your computer and set them on the page. So you can write 'Happy brithday!' in a crazy font, big and fun colors, then paste a picture of a cake. Then you leave some space where you will fold the card, and write on the insider of the card. You can also put in pictures of the person whose birthday it is.

In the lower right hand corner insert some clip art, a greeting and a 1/4 page border.
In the upper left-hand corner insert a text box and type in some saying and center it in the 1/4 page area. Then click on it and turn it upside down.
Print out and fold the top half of the page down the back side. Then fold the card in half.
