This really insn't a wedding question but I thought this would be the best place to ask.
I was asked to plan a banquet dinner for an organization. I already know where I need to have it because there is going to be a 3 day event (another organization is doing) at the hotel and then our organization will host a dinner for all of those who will attend. When should I contact the hotel to book a banquet room?
I really need to have the dinner on a certain day and want a certain banquet room in the hotel. Is a year in advance to soon? I'm new at this.

Honestly now, people book so far in advance it isn't funny, so if I where you I would do it now. I booked our facility 16 months in advance.Most place ask for a small deposit, but it is worth it to secure your date.

Call right away. Many banquet facilities book up to a year in advance. We started planning our wedding 13 months before the date, and our first-choice venue was booked up 15 months ahead.

No....It's NOT too soon! Call on Monday! The earlier the better. And is the date you wanted a Saturday??? Yikes!! You may be out of luck due to weddings. So again...call right away on Monday.
And, yes, this was a good section to put this question in as all of us are used to planning and organizing!! :)

If you know when you want it, you should do it at least a year in advance in order to get the room you want.
Make sure the hotel knows you're hosting it for conference attendees - they may give you a reduced rate, especially if you're using the hotel catering services.

a year is not too far in advance...that is the norm. i am getting married in 8 months and am having a hard time finding an open reception hall.
