Since I am a guitarist, I'm a little biased here. I tend to like music that is guitar-driven. The thing that is kind of special about Blues Rock is that it involves a combination of technique and feel.
With Blues, you gotta have feel, you gotta have soul. There is no way around it, those two elements must be there. Alot of great Blues guitarists are dripping with soul, but not necessarrily technique. And that's ok, the Blues is not about being able to perform feats of virtuostic wonder.
BUT, it is a very cool feeling to combine the two. And when I say "Have Feeling" or "Have Soul" I mean it. So, we are talking about somethting you can't get out of a book or practice. You either have it or you don't, or at least you develop it over the course of a well-lived life.
So, when you add up technique and soul, what do you get? Some of my favorite Blues-Rock guitarists. And yes, some are more Blues than rock, and vice versa, but Blues-Rock doesn't mean exactly 50% of both, it means some combination of both.
Older
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page
This is all very subjective, but as of this very moment, these are my opinions.
Good Luck!

I like SRV, Johnny Winter, Allman Brothers, Elvin Bishop, George Thorogood, Janis Joplin, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa ... I know I'm forgetting some here ... plus many of the traditional blues artists. I've always like the blues -- the feeling of the music -- but I also like to rock.

My absolute fav's are a sadly missed Stevie Ray Vaughn (fantastic), Bonnie Raitt is really good, Buddy Guy a must, Johnny Winter.......(these I saw in concert as well and have all of their music of course).....oh, and Jeff Beck.....definitely good bluesy rock here.......Allman Bros, Muddy Waters, & John Lee Hooker (last two not such bluesy rock but great nonetheless!
There are a few I"m missing here of course......my these are my fav's.....I've been an avid fan of blues & blues rock for years....grew up in the Philadelphia Metro area.....been to
"Sonny's Place" in Harlem, some underground blues & jazz clubs in Manhattan, Philly, & Jersey.
I grew up listening to Joni Mitchell first then went from there really..........."Hissing of Summer Lawns' my fav.
Can't play but I sure love to listen to some Blues Rock especially on the guitar any day!

I would consider myself a blues rock fan. Some of my favorite groups/artists are:
Allman Brothers, Animals,Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Robert Cray, Cream.. Paul Butterfield, (Early) Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, (Early) J. Geils, Them, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top,Elvin Bishop, Blood, Sweat, & Tears(When Al Kooper was with them), Alvin Lee & Love, Steve Miller Band , Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Van Morrison, (Early) Boz Scaggs, (Early) Rolling Stones ,etc (I know I'm leaving some out!)
I don't know if all of these fit your definition of "blues rock".or if you're more interested in more recent artists. The reasons I love blues rock are many, primarily because I could spend 24 7 listening to most any kind of blues or blues influenced music. I find it especially theraputic to listen to the blues when I'm emotionally down. In a weird way, it actually can cheer me up.

I'm a guitarist so i've been influenced heavily by some sweet blues guitarists...
e.g Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page..
i'm 15 so usually i have to endure the music most of my peers listen to..*shudder*
but a few of my closest friends share the same music taste which is sweet.
I love playing guitar and it has more feel if you play the blues..

For blues rock I would first say Kenny Wayne Shepherd because after randomly going to a concert of his (without having heard his music) I was so blown away that I finally bought a guitar. I found out who his influences were and it changed my life. It was my first intro to B.B. King, SRV , Muddy Waters etc.
Other favorites include-
Anthony Gomes
SRV
Jimi Hendrix
Albert King
Ansley Listner

I've been listening to a lot of Bonnie Raitt lately.
I saw both, Robert Cray and Etta James, in concert last month. Both were great in their own way.
I can't wait to get the new Bettye LaVette cd.
