First, wash the potatoes under running water. Dry them with paper towels. Poke at them with a fork to put tiny vent holes in them. Wrap them individually in aluminum foil. Bake them in a 425 F oven for about an hour. If you slightly squeeze the potato and it feels soft, it means it's done. Always use an oven mitt, and have a nice date!

So very easy to do. You can do them in the microwave, but they taste so much better cooked in a real oven.

Purchase two large baking potatoes. Rinse them thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels. Spread them lightly with a little cooking oil or shortening, just enough to lightly coat the potato. Pierce the potato once or twice with a fork. Wrap each potato separately in aluminum foil to cover the potato tightly and securely. Pop those foil wrapped potatoes in your oven that has been preheated to between 400-450 degrees.

The cooking time will vary (usually about an hour), depending on the size of the potato, and your oven temperature. Here's how I can tell when they are done. Take a clean dishcloth or potholder in hour hand. Slightly squeeze the potato, being careful to protect your hand from the hot foil. If the potato "gives" somewhat, and is soft to the touch, it is done. If the potato is still hard, just cook it until it's soft. Be sure not to overcook them, as they will be dry.

Good luck with dinner, and have fun with your date.

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Scrub the potatoes clean. Using a knife or fork, pierce potatoes a few times so they won't explode during baking. Put potatoes in oven and bake 30-45 minutes (depending on potato size). Turn oven off and leave the potatoes for about 15 more minutes WITHOUT opening the oven. When you can easily pierce the potatoes all the way through with a fork or a knife, they are ready.

Well, you can really bake them...spread butter all over the potato, wrap in it foil, poke holes in the foil, place potato on a cookie sheet, bake in a 375 degree oven for and hour, hour and half. They are done when you can very easily insert a fork.
OR you can cheat...poke holes in the potato and put in the microwave for 7-8 minutes (minus the folil...LOL).
Good Luck!

such an easy recipe here for you...too simple to mess up (and i am a guy!). pre-heat oven to 450. take two potatoes, slice in half, slice in half again, and then chop. they should be about a half inch thick and about an inch wide. put in bowl and pour in about 1/4 olive oil, a little salt and pepper. put on to a cookie sheet. put in oven for 30 minutes...turn potatoes and cook for another fifteen or until golden brown. done! if you have a little oregano or parmasean cheese, place potatoes in a bowl, sprinkle with a little of each. great presentation and easy. it'll make you look like you were baking them all day, when actually all you did was put them in the oven and turn them once. good luck.
