I am aware that "wild colors" are all the rage with decorators these days.........it's a fashion statement indeed. However, allow me to provide you with a sound but boring answer.
Use an off-white. It never goes out of style, looks clean, works with ANY furniture/carpet color scheme. Moreover, it always make a room look bigger.
Allow your color and self-expression to punctuate the room - not the walls. That is, furniture, wall hangings (pictures,) throw pillows, and on, and, on are the way to express those vivid colors. Not the walls which should almost be transparent to the decorating scheme.
I promise you that when this latest decorating "boon" falls out of favor, you will have an out-of-date look that will be a "bugger" to cover.
Example: Avacado, Harvest Gold, etc...was the "in thing" in the 70's - particularly for kitchen appliances and bathroom fixtures. If you happen to visit a home with this or another non-conventional "dated" color sceme" you would probably vomit at what was once considered chic.
However, if you don't mind repainting every couple of years, go for it !!

You've asked a good ?, but for any one to answer that correctly we have to have more info, like are you single and have a bachelor apt., ore are you married. What type and collar furniture do you have. Are you a sports enthusiast or to you have some special hobby that might bring into bear certain collars. Let us know these things and maybe we can help you pick out your colors.

Never mind the walls. You have something else you should be doing. You know what I'm talking about.

Duh, you should have included some details about furniture or decor. Personally, my favorite room has Hunter Green & Burgundy.
