The NT is clear that no one else would come until Christ returns. That makes it easy to sort out, eh? Any one claiming to be a prophet today would, by definition, be a fake.

Yes. Listen. Ignore the false prophets and the so called leaders. Look to God, not the media, for the answer.

If you are talking about prophets as in a man who claims to recieve revelation from God....then ask the mormons.
They claim to have that very man as the leader of their church.
Never heard of tv evangelists calling themselves prophets but Ive never paid much attention to them either.

i do no longer recommend to be impolite right here, so please do no longer take it as such, yet for the umpteenth time oceanwoman, The statements made interior the JD, The Seer (in spite of that's), Mormon Doctrine and "someplace else" (aka an anti website i will only presume), are no longer considered scripture via the church. they are God's representatives, that's a severe job, yet they are additionally adult men and do as all adult men/women human beings/human beings in maximum situations do, they make errors. they are no longer consistently "on" - which skill they are no longer consistently speaking on behalf of God. they are studying and becoming and making errors (that could be the suited instructor) like the rest individuals. while they are "at the back of the pulpit" or making an actual fact on behalf of the church, they are speaking as God's representatives in the international. in any different case they are only Tommy Monson, Hank Eyring, etc. in spite of that's which you do, you do no longer consistently characterize that component of your life, do you? once you're a nurse, are you oftentimes on the look out for trauma situations, or in spite of sort of nursing you prepare. Or once you're a third Grade instructor, are you oftentimes coaching human beings the thank you to multiply and divide, the thank you to sound out the no longer effortless words, and the order of the planets? once you're a lawyer are you oftentimes a prosecuter or a defender - consistently? 24/7? 300 and sixty 5 days a 300 and sixty 5 days? in no way taking an afternoon or 2nd off? Are you in addition to mght a mom, to boot to in spite of your occupation is? in case you're consistently a nurse, instructor, or lawyer or in spite of, how are you able to in addition to mght be a mom, a spouse, a buddy, a daughter, in case you're consistently a (in spite of that's which you do as a occupation)? And yet, because of the fact which you're no longer consistently anybody element - only a Daughter, only a spouse, only a _______, why is it which you anticipate a prophet to consistently and easily be a prophet - to the exclusion of each and every thing else? no longer each and every thing that comes out of your mouth is that of a nurse/instructor/(occupation), yet you anticipate a prophet to easily talk the words of God and in no way be the rest. Why is that?

yes there are quite a few.. They are not the same as the Old Testament Prophets, but most large churches have several. Go to a Pentecostal church where the gifts of the spirit are in use and you will find some. Just ask..
There is not some list where you can dial up and find a Prophet..
There were obviously N.T. Prophets and the gifts are still active today, but the idea of writing the Bible is not being done..
Where it says First Apostles, second Prophets. the OT prophets came before Apostles, so it has to be NT Prophets that the Bible is talking about..

Maybe there are few among army of pretenders... Maybe... So far I will faster trust few years old child than to anyone of those... prophets... I judge every word I can hear from or about them... Miracle is not a nice played illusion... Faith is not a control but path of life where someone fallows steps of true leader... path to redemption... not to anger... Its not easy to disconect message from God from words of simple human... Its like atempt to catch miracle of life from study about it made by scientists... Its like feeling warmth to know what means cold... Its like to see world and all what is behind its image.... Its like to know all and nothing but still less than we should know... Prophet?... It can be your heart... if you turn it on :)

Yes, there is a true and living prophet on the earth today. His name is Gordon B. Hinckley.
We know by prayer to God and receiving a confirmation for ourselves.
