People don't go to church just to pray. They go to hear a message and fellowship with other people of their faith.

For me, there is nothing more fun than going to church to pray. The presence of the Lord is so strong there and we are all in unity, especially during worship. For some reason, I am not so distracted as I am if I am at work or home. My other favorite place to pray is in the car.

I don't go to Church to pray, however I do pray while there - and I pray a lot.
I go to Church to hear the Word of God, to worship God, and to spend time with God in His house.
I pray when I drive, at lunch, and whenever I have a few extra moments during the day.

Because its their way for praying. Its also to recieve the Lord's message as well. I also think its a gathering to pray within a group that has a Priest to help pray with you and to Bless you.

People don't go to Church to pray - that's just one of things that they happen to do there. That's like asking why people go to the movies when they can make popcorn at home.

Catholics go church for the same reason others have mentioned - to pray, to hear the word of God, to celebrate the eucharist, weddings, baptisms etc. and or course for the fellowship.

Some people need to be seen praying. I believe that God knows the difference.
There's nothing wrong with assembling with other believers, and nothing wrong with praying privately.

The Bible says you should not forsake (deny) yourself the assembling of the people. It also says where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there. Many people find strength and comfort in being in a congregation of like minded believers who are there to worship God. They are strengthened by the prayers of the faithful. Others find great communion with God through the music.

Church isn't only for praying, it is for studying, worship and being with other Christians.

Good point, I agree.
Church has evolved into a socialized setting where people congregate, usually to be "seen", for giving their tithes, for fellowship, and even to play bingo for some.
Peace be with you.
