I just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday. It's now saturday and I noticed on Thursday that my bottom right socket is red, not to red but its red and its the only area that hurts. Is this normal? or do I have an infection? my dentist told me to go in on Monday if it still hurts.

How would I know if there is an infection? what would my gum(s) look like?
I do not have a fever.

- I don't think I have a dry socket, I was VERY careful not to create any suction in my mouth in the first 48 hrs.
- There isn't a funny smell or taste in my mouth either.
- On monday I will just go into my dentist and pick up a perscription just in case. .. because that socket isnt swollen at all, its just a little red.

It would be red, slightly (or very) swollen AND you can taste it. It's gross but true. If you have a bad taste/smell coming from that socket then it's infected.

I think you have a dry socket, I had a wisdom tooth taken out and went boating the air cause it to form a dry socket and I felt like I had the flu . Just plain sick and it was the worst feeling, even my bones ached. The Dentist forgot to tell me not to get air in my mouth and I went in , he packed with some medicine on gauze and I went back about 4 straight days to get removed and repacked, but i didn't have a fever , just so sick.
