My parents both got divorced seven years ago and I have been living with my father. Recently I have started wanting to see my mother which I think is only natural in a way. If I talked to him and convice him he could let me see her but I was wondering since next month I will be turning 18 years old so could he still have control if I could see her or not.

No at 18 your legally an adult but it would be nice to talk to him still. That way he won't feel like your trying for any arguments or hiding anything from him and it is the adult way to handle things. If he is against it, give him your reasons for why you feels so strong for it and then you will have to play by heart as to what to do.

you should be able to see your mother now and if you ask your dad & he says no, then keep in mind that when you turn 18 you are legally an adult and can do "anything" you want to. So yes, see your mom & if he does'nt like it well too bad. He may be your dad but trying to keep a kid away from a parent is not a good thing. It's up to you to decide who you see, why and who you don't and why. Plus if there is no real terrible issue (drugs, abuse) whatever then cherrish every moment you can get. Good Luck & Take Care!

For heaven's sake, man, you should have been seeing your mother regularly all along. I am a mother of two sons and my heart has been broken by them. One is a drunk and a wife beater. He stole from us and then was too sh** faced to come around. I haven't talked to him since 1990. The other is a wiccan 44 years old and I haven't seen him since he left for the army at 18. THERE IS NO SENSE in anyone treating a parent this way. If you haven't seen your mother because of your dad, shame on him!!!!!!! And when you're 18, you need to go see her often and regularly. Parents don't have to be perfect. They just need to be respected. Please go see your mother!

Is there any reason you can't see her? Or do you feel
it would be disloyal? Many times one parent is successful
in convincing kids to alienate from the other. Unless
there is abuse, in a month you'll still be wondering how
to do this with dad's blessing, May be on 18th, leave him
a note. Make sure it is for you, and just say you'd like
him to bless this decision. If he won't don't lose your chance
for a mom too
