Goliath a giant from the NEPHILIM,

Goliath was also a champion of the Philistines, which have always been Israel's enemies.

1Sa 17:4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

You notice his "height" was "six cubits." 6 the number of man, and also the number of Satan's BEAST System.

Dan 3:1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Was it a stone, or a sword that killed Goliath ???

The stone is symbolic of CHRIST which brings down the Beast system.

Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Dan 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

Dan 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

"became a great mountain," GOD's government will reign and fill the whole earth.

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

That "white stone" is CHRIST.

He was about 6 foot 4 inches tall in all of the oldest manuscripts. A typo appeared in the Middle Ages making him over 9 feet tall, and (for whatever reason) most modern translations run with the typo. The stone hit him, he went down, and David used Goliath's own sword to behead him. The text does not specifically say whether it was the stone or the sword that killed him. The stone was probably the most likely - the kind of sling that David used was a highly effective military weapon.

(Princess Peabody is thinking of a Canaanite king, not Goliath.)

A stone from David's sling killed Goliath. Hit squarely between the eyes aand embedded. He lopped of his head using Goliath's own sword. On Goliath's height, no one really seems sure. Measuring methods of the time varied. But it seems about 8 feet to 11 feet was the given range. I have read 8 foot four inches to 8 feet 7 inches most probably.

Well, a lot of religious people don't like some of the information I get from the History Channel. But, you might like this. Seems an excavation was made in Israel in the Jordan border area. They believe they found the ruins of the city of Gath. And in those ruins are some old engravings, mainly on old coins, of a resident named Golo. Seems this guy was rather tall and quite a celebrity in the town. Yep! Think the Bible hit this one and the account correctly this time. Don't get me wrong. I'm not convinced of the entire contents of your reference. But when I can back things with other sources I can believe credibly, I will say so.

And Please! More questions like this on religion. Not just me as an athiest, but at the very least you will find Jewish and Islam believers in agreement with you on things like this. And keep your minds open to other beliefs. They'll then keep open minds to yours.

Given that the average height of Jews at this time was around 5ft-6ins then Goliath would probably have been around 6ft-8ins or there abouts and would have seemed like a giant indeed,he was killed by a stone from David`s slingshot.

It was the stone that killed him, the sword was just to chop off his head for a trophy. I believe size was approximated at 12-14ft.
This is based on a story in that same book about the king of those people and the detentions of his bed.

Goliath towered to the extraordinary height of six cubits and a span (2.9 m; 9.5 ft). His copper coat of mail weighed 5,000 shekels (57 kg; 126 lb) and the iron blade of his spear weighed 600 shekels (6.8 kg; 15 lb). (1Sa 17:4, 5, 7)

David slung a stone from his sling; it sank into Goliath’s forehead, and he fell to the earth. David followed this up by standing on Goliath and cutting off his head with the giant’s own sword.

Wow.
A lot of answers here about how he was "this tall" or "that tall" but the reality is this; he was imaginary.
No record outside of the bible exists describing a man of this stature. Not to mention his two brothers who were bigger than he was!
No, this is mythology yet again. Just a story that shows the ignorant masses that even though you're just a little guy, with ghod(tm) on your side you can take down anyone. Which is, after all, ludicrous. The big guy can and will give you a whuppin' and not even break a sweat.

He was a big bad man. He was killed by a stone cast with faith in almighty God by a boy.

It happened before the liberals tried to outlaw sling shots.
