You don't have to kill the geese, you can pluck a little down off and they grow it back. If it is cold where you live, I wouldn't do it this time of year though. How would you like to lose your insulation.

im not sure that it matters...iv heard that hand harvested goose down is done several times a year...i guess they just pluk em alive and wait till the feathers grow back
